Obituary

ROSA ELENA “CUQUI” ROJAS

01/14/1961  –  08/06/2019

2  Timothy 4: 7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Rosa Elena “Cuqui” Rojas, 58, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Cuqui loved the Lord Jesus and had a lot of wonderful friends, family and co-workers in Miami, and Ocala Florida.  She attended the Laredo Assembly of God church. She was very loving and a blessing to all of us. Cuqui had a dog named Angel and a cat named Lazaro.  She loved and enjoyed the company of her high school friends from Laredo.  She loved the outdoors, and visiting the ocean.  She had numerous cousins in Miami and Puerto Rico whom she loved very much.

Cuqui is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rojas on October 11, 2015; her father, Semi Jatib Sargen on March 2006 and her mother, Rosa Maria Jatib Salas in 1999.

She is survived by her brother, Jose R.(Emma E.) Jatib; nephew Omar C. (Diana Hamblen) Jatib; niece, Sofia E. Jatib; as well as other family members and friends that will greatly miss her.

Oh my friend, it is so hard to believe that you have moved on. I will miss your hugs, kind words, and support. You were positive, upbeat, and humble. You knew when I needed a smile and readily shared yours. I will miss you, my friend. It was my pleasure to have known you. Dawna

I will always remember Rosa as having THE MOST gentle and sweet spirit of anyone I have known. Throughout the many years I knew Rosa, through some very trying times, I NEVER heard her say something bad or negative about another. Rosa was always kind, supportive, loving and generous toward others. Part of her generosity was with her cooking too. I wonder how many thousands of flans she made in her lifetime. Hands down, Rosa made THE BEST flan. For every event or celebration we could count on Rosa to bring her delicious flan. She was generous with her recipes too. I will treasure both her black beans recipe and her flan recipe. Written in her handwriting, I will think of her when I try to make them, knowing they won't be half as good as what Rosa made. Miss you Rosa!

Rosa's Family, Rosa had such a positive impact on each person she met. Her warm hugs, her kind words, her deep faith, her love of family, friends and pets, her never ending belief in the good in people - all of these things made Rosa the loving and amazing human being she was. Her light shone for all the world to see and this world is a darker place without Rosa in it. While we at the library have missed her so much we were so happy she had the opportunity to go to Texas to be with you and spend more meaningful time with each of you. Though we will not be at the memorial service in person, please know that Rosa's library family is sending loving and comforting thoughts to you as you say your goodbyes to a truly wonderful and unique woman. We were honored to have known and to have had the opportunity to love Rosa.

I knew Rosa in high school and she was a dear friend. She was a gentle and kind soul and she left the world a better place when she graced us with her presence. We reconnected when she returned to Laredo and will miss visiting with her. My condolences to her family.
