Rosa C. Donovan, age 91, of Laredo, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025.

Rosa will be remembered for her strength, grace, and the love she poured into her family. Her legacy lives on through her children: Ruth D. Compean (the late Mario Compean), Rose D. Gonzalez (Ricardo Gonzalez), Azeneth Reyes (Raul Reyes), Araceli Winterroth (Anthony Winterroth), Oscar Donovan, Lillian Mabel Lozano (Felix Lozano), George Andrew Donovan, and Jaqueline Lozano and Michael Patrick Donovan.  She is also survived by her beloved sister, Lilia Castañeda (the late Alfonso Castañeda), as well as 22 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward with love. Among her grandchildren, Veronika Ramirez and Rebecca Lozano held a very special place in Rosa’s heart as the loves of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Derly Donovan; her sisters, Alicia Gutierrez, Amparo Gonzalez, Dora Garza, and Paulita Cantu; her brothers, Nestor Cantu, Rosendo Cantu, and Margarito Cantu; her nephews, Netito Cantu and Oscar Gonzalez; her niece, Diana Dominguez; and her grandson, Eric Compean.

Rosa was deeply cherished as a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She touched many lives with her kindness and devotion, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Jason Compean, Armando Salazar Jr., Javier Ramirez, Oscar Donovan III, Felix Lozano Jr., and Gerardo “Jerry” Garza.

 The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  A prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation services, where chapel doors will open at 7:00 am. A chapel service will be officiated at 9:00 am. Interment will follow to the Laredo City Cemetery.
