First and foremost, thank you for joining us to honor and say farewell for now to our father.   Until we meet again in our Lord’s Kingdom for an everlasting life.

Our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Holy Savior Hospice & Palliative Care.  Grateful our father had an amazing team of nurses who ensured he was comfortable in his final days.  Christy, Veronica, Juanita, Salome, and David thank you for always going above and beyond to care for our dad.  We would also like to extend our gratitude to Deacon Morales for your countless prayers.  Thank you for singing daily to our father his favorite song “Un Dia a la Vez”.  Your prayers gave us solace in our time of profound sadness.

For all who took time out of their day to pray for our father, a heartfelt thank you.

Forever grateful God chose Roberto to be our dad.

Roberto always had a calm demeanor.  A quality our mother favored.  He loved his wife without measure.  Roberto enjoyed dancing to Tejano music with his wife, barbecuing, and loved being in a BUBBLE with his family.  Roberto and Maria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2023.  He was a man of faith.  He would pray with his daughters each night and say one needs to not fear, but believe in the Lord and have faith.

Our childhood was full of adventures.  He was a man that took his role of a father seriously.  Each day he planned activities for us to embark on afterschool.  Whether it was visiting Casa Blanca State Park, grilling some hot dogs, bird watching, or simply bike riding.  He made sure our days were full of fun and adventure.  He taught us how to dance cumbias and polkas on our grandmother’s patio.  Dad was an expert on how to braid our long hair, select coordinating outfits, cook/grill great food and truly be present in our lives.

Roberto was a humble man who would help his friend, neighbor as the Lord called.  He was a person you could count on to help fix your car, assemble furniture, paint a room, help you move, or simply share a meal.  Roberto enjoyed working with his tools.  If you would call him to borrow a tool or ask for advice on how to fix something, he would drive up to your house to lend a hand.  That’s just the type of person he was.  Dad was an avid learner.  He would learn various trades from others in order to help his family and friends when the time came. Whether it was welding, auto mechanics, plumbing and beyond.  Roberto passed his knowledge of various trades/skills to his son-in-laws.

Our father was an amazing husband to Maria.  He was a provider, protector and above all a supporter of his daughter’s endeavors. He was always cheering on his daughters, Belinda and Marisa as they garnered their bachelors and masters degrees, got married, and built a family with the values he had instilled at a young age.  He was grateful to have witnessed his grandchildren grow and gain accolades for their talents and gifts.

Each grandchild was given time to reflect on their special relationship with their grandpa.  Each provided a glimpse of their cherished memory of their beloved grandpa.

Bella & Ava:

We would paint and draw pictures on the dining table and Nana would judge our drawings/paintings and announce a winner.  All of us would win.

Bella:

On Sundays, we would play checkers.  He would explain his savvy moves and teach me the strategy behind it.  Grandpa would let me win sometimes.

Ava:

Grandpa was a great dancing partner.  We would dance in his living room to Tejano music.  We would play bingo and lotteria too.  Grandpa would always win.  Grandpa would play with the Our Generation dolls with me. We had so much fun.

Aria:  Playing peekaboo after breakfast and eating snacks with grandpa.  We would watch Trolls together before nap time.

Alexa, Alyza & Alex:

Watching Family Feud and action movies like Blue Sea.  Grandpa would watch over us during Covid time and spend time with London, our dog on the couch.  We would go outside and play a horse shoe game.  It was really fun and we miss it.  We would play dominos and go on adventures in the backyard with magnets.

Alexa & Alyza:

Solve word search puzzles while waiting for Alex at Blessed Sacrament.

Alex:

At school he would always give me a happy meal from McDonald’s.  I would always wear grandpa’s cap and pretend I was grandpa.

Thank you dad for being a man who provided guidance to ensure we were INDEPENDENT women.  Roberto ensured that no task would be too big for us to accomplish on our own.  Some of the things he taught us how to do included, assemble furniture, tape and float sheetrock, how to mix and pour a concrete slab, mow the lawn, and automobile maintenance.

We are forever grateful God chose you to be our father.  We love you.
