Raul Villarreal, Jr., 79, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009. Mr. Villarreal was a Korean War Veteran with the United States Army serving with the 2nd Infantry Division from 1950 to 1951. Among his recognition for military service, Mr. Villarreal was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He voluntarily enlisted in 1948 and was honorably discharged in 1952. Thereafter, he served as a US Army Reservist and was honorably discharged as well. Mr. Villarreal was an electrician and co-owner of Villarreal Electric Co. He faithfully served as an Elder at Sinai Presbyterian Church in Laredo, TX for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raul & Manuela Villarreal; his sister Beatriz Ruiz and his granddaughter, Janelle C. Dieck. He is survived by his wife, Clara S. Villarreal of Laredo, Tx.; his children, Belinda Villarreal of Laredo, Tx., Clara (Francisco) Dieck of San Antonio, Tx., Ruth L (Fred) Flores of San Antonio, Tx., Raul (Michelle) Villareal, III of Colorado Springs, Tomas Villarreal of Dallas, Tx. and Luis M. (Veronica) Villarreal of Laredo, Tx.; his grandchildren, Francisco R. Dieck, Clarissa C. Dieck, Cristina M. Flores, Alyssa C. Flores, Amber M. Villarreal, Brandon R. Villarreal, Christopher T. Villarreal, Luis M. Villarreal, II, Andres A. Villarreal and Raul E. Villarreal. Visitation will be Friday, December 11, 2009 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 12, 2009 from Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services to Sinai Presbyterian Church located at 420 Washington St. Rev. Arturo Martinez will officiate at the church service to commence at 10:00 am. Interment will follow immediately to the City Cemetery. Mr. Villarreal will be buried with military honors provided by the United States Army Flag Detail and American Legion Post 59. Funeral services have been entrusted to the funeral directors of Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, 4502 Thomas Ave.
