Mr. Raul E. Garcia was surrounded by his family when he lost his battle to cancer on December 20, 2019 and went to be with the lord.
He was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. He was a US Army military Veteran Paratrooper with the 2nd Battalion 509th, in the 8th infantry division and a law enforcement public servant for over 30 years working for DPS, and assisted other law enforcement entities such as the Sheriff Department, FBI, DEA, and CBP. He enjoyed family, friends, music, martial arts, travel and hot rods. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Garcia is preceded in death by his son, Walter Garcia; father, Agapito M. Garcia; mother, Alicia Eggers; sister, Bertha Morcillo.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Gracie Rangel, Raul (Nora) Garcia, Corina (Alejandro Daniel) Garcia Serna, and David Garcia; former spouse, Ana Maria Garcia; grandchildren, Victor Alexander Rangel, Andrew Rangel, Natalie Rangel, Isabel Garcia, Sebastian Garcia, Aaron Serna, and Aldo Serna; former son-in-law, Victor Rangel Jr., siblings and other family.
The family will be receiving guests Monday, December 23, 2019, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will start at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. The funeral mass will start at 8:30 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and The American Legion Post 59 of Laredo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Victor Alexander Rangel, Andrew Rangel, Sebastian Garcia, Aaron Serna, Aldo Serna and Alex Garcia.
The family would like to express their utmost gratitude to Dr. Milton Haber, CIMA Hospice Staff, and Doctor’s Hospital Nursing Staff for their exceptional care and support. Also special thanks to all law enforcement entities, and special thanks to Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
