Oscar passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loved ones in Laredo, Texas. He was 66 years old.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Erasmo and Juanita Dilley Juarez; maternal grandparents Teodoro and Aurora Juarez; parents Benito Matias and Angela Juarez; nephew Francisco Javier “Javie” Juarez; and in-laws Francisco Javier and Yolanda Cadena.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Gloria C. Juarez, his three beautiful daughters, Cristina (Arturo) Perez, Alyssa (Robert) Castillon, and Annali (Eliseo) Canales; grandchildren Robert Liam Castillon, Oscar Javier Perez, Caleb Joaquin Perez, and Ellie Sofia Canales; brothers Benito (Pamela) Juarez, Orlando (Sandra) Juarez, Omar (Letty) Juarez, and sister Melinda (Joe) Gutierrez.
Oscar was a graduate of J. W. Nixon High School and was a proud Longhorn having earned his business degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979. He was a self-made man who started his own painting company to work through college and eventually opened his own business, Fastco Sandblasting and Painting, the first of its kind in South Texas.
Oscar was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He was a dedicated, committed, and independent businessman. He was also an avid rancher and outdoorsman that loved to fish and hunt. He loved entertaining at the ranch, at the bay house, and at home while cooking the most delicious food for family and friends. He especially loved seeing his grandchildren chasing the chickens, looking for grasshoppers and shed horns, and giving them rides on the bulldozer, tractor, and bobcat. He gained true pride in seeing his children and grandchildren hunting and fishing, but his favorite pastime was deep sea fishing with his daughters and sons in law. Through his commitment to his business and love for the outdoors, he modeled hard work, ethics, sacrifice, and the importance of family to all.
He was generous, honest, kind, and always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Oscar was very proud of his girls and would speak their praises to any neighboring ear. Gloria, who was the love of his life, was his number one supporter and confidant. He was a man of great faith, and we are certain that he is now resting in peace with our Lord.
