Obituary

Oralia G. Garza, 87, was called by the Lord to her resting place in Heaven on November 10, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family.

The Matriarch of the Garza Family and a devout catholic, Mrs. Garza was born on 1931 in Valladares de Candela, Coahuila, the eldest of 9 siblings. She married the love of her life at the age of 19 until she was widowed after 57 years of marriage. Early in their marriage they were migrant workers travelling to Idaho, Oregon, and California. Soon thereafter, they established their permanent home in Laredo, Texas. She was a homemaker caring for her family and raising her 6 educated children to be responsible citizens giving back unselfishly to the community. After her children branched out and started their families, she helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even though her children were busy with their families and lives they made time to come to “Ama’s” house regularly. Her house was always filled with family, friends, and great meals with laughter as the main ingredient.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Jose (Sylvia) Garza, Josefina Garza, Isabel (John) Hawkins, Santiago (Hilda) Garza, San Juanita Rodriguez, Marta (Anthony) Stahl; 16 Grandchildren: Nancy (Rolando) Guerrero, Cindie (Danny) Garza of San Antonio, Texas, Arturo (Kimberly) Castillo, Joseph Andre Garza, Edwin Eloy Rodriguez, Pedro David Garza, Kristeena Yvonne Rodriguez, Monica Ann Stahl, Jacqueline Reeta Rodriguez, Samantha Lee Hawkins, Stephen James Garza, Anthony Brett Stahl, Jr., Stephanie Jane Garza, Daniella Alexandra Garza, Mark Anthony Stahl, Katherine Teena Rodriguez, Jason Daniel Garza; 9 Great- Grandchildren: Rolando Noe Guerrero, Fernando “Trey” Chavarria, III, Violetta Sofia Guerrero, Mia Celeste Guerrero, Alberto Isaac Chavarria, David Alan Chavarria, Rebecca Nicole Chavarria, Natalia Noele Garza, and Zachary Aidan Garza; 8 Siblings: Ignacio Guerrero, Fermin Guerrero, Cosme Guerrero, Hilda Garza, Francisco Guerrero, Mario del Refugio Reyes, Lazaro Guerrero, and Ercilia Aguirre; and numerous relatives and friends.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one might just be the saddest experience there is. That’s why I’d like to share with you a message of hope. God’s Word, the Bible, compares death to being asleep (see 1 Thesalonians 4:14). Jesus Christ himself said “The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life” (John 11:25). This words have given me hope and I felt the need to share them with you. To the Garza Family My deepest condolences on your loss. I will cherish all those times we would go to her house when my dad and mom would take us. I have many fond memories of her, from her hugs, making us feel like I we were like her own grandchildren, and always having delicious food around. She had a contagious personality and kind heart that set her apart from others. I know my dad, and Tio Pedro, are waiting for her and they will soon be talking it up as they usually did when they would visit with each other. Que en paz decanze mi Tia Oralia. Sincerely, Rosario (Chayo) Garza
