Obituary

On Saturday evening October 13, 2018, Laura Paz Nañez became our sweet angel at 10:28 PM at the age of 90.

She was born on May 16, 1928, to Rafael and Maria Paz in Laredo, TX.

She worked at the Laredo Theaters for many years before she retired to raise her children.

Laura was a woman full of strength even during times of pain,  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and was anticipating being a great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rafael and Maria Paz, her in-laws Nicolás and Gabriela Nañez, her brother Rafael Paz, Jr., her sister Ninfa Hernández and nephews Roel, Salvador, Jr., Rafael III, and niece Laurita.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Nicolas Nañez, her children Maria Laura, Nicolas III(Esmeralda), Anna Gabriela, Jorge(Maribel), Antonio(Blanca), Sofia Raquel(Rigoberto Saenz) and Maria Idalia Rodríguez; grandchildren Eduardo(Priscilla) and Rafael Cisneros, Carolina and Daniela Nañez, Nicolas IV and Gabriela Nañez, Angel, Jorge Antonio, Alexander , and Arely Sofia Nanez, Annabel Rodriguez, and Riguito Saenz, and soon to arrive great-grandson Eduardo Cisneros III; siblings Maria De La Luz( +Reymundo Canales), Guadalupe(Francisco Guzmán), Ramón (Rebeca) Paz, Juan(Francisca) Paz, Roberto(Angelina) Paz, Raul Paz,  and brother-in-law Salvador Hernandez. Also surviving her are nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

The family would like to wholeheartedly thank her doctors Dr. Dennis Cantu, Dr. Jaime Sued, and Dr. Marte Martinez, and Dr. Jorge Vela. Also, our sincere thanks go to all the nurses who took care of her at LMC especially Ambrosio and Yuri of Floor 3C and the ICU nurses Leo, Maritess, Valeria, V! alerie, Lee, and Tamara, and Raquel, who always was so welcoming.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. A holy rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at San Luis Rey Catholic Church.  A funeral mass will start at 9:00 am.  Interment will follow to the City Cemetery.
