Obituary

Martha L. Casarez Maldonado, 43, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 1, 1981, Martha was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Martha grew up in Laredo, Texas and attended Martin High School before graduating from University of Texas at Arlington in 2009. She carried a radiant joy about her, and her smile was a source of joy for all her family and friends. Martha loved to spend time with her friends and family watching the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs play, although anytime with family was a treasure. At all times, Martha was warm, caring, funny, and loving. She faced her illness with incredible strength and grace, inspiring everyone who knew her. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Martha is survived by her husband Jose Alfredo Maldonado; 2 children: Jose Alfredo Maldonado, Jr. and Jasiel Ariyan Maldonado; her parents Norberto & Martha Casarez and Agustin & Laura O. Maldonado; her siblings Norberto (Stephenie) Casarez, Jr., Melissa (Angel) Villarreal, Laura Edith Garcia, Marco Antonio Maldonado, Roman Lopez, Luis Alberto Maldonado, and Cristina Ariana Maldonado; her nieces and nephews Eddie Lagunas, David Lagunas, Daniel Lagunas, Brandi Casarez, Bella Casarez, Skylar Casarez, Cherish Casarez, Agustin Maldonado, and Aiden Villarreal. She is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Fred Dickey Funeral Home, 1320 Trey Dr. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 departing the funeral home chapel. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Committal services and internment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Marco Antonio Maldonado, Luis Alberto Maldonado, Norberto Casarez, Jr., Angel Villarreal, Jose Luis Casarez, Jr., and Hugo Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers are Jose Alfredo Maldonado, Jr. and Jasiel Ariyan Maldonado.

My deepest condolences to the family on this loss. I was acquainted with Martha as we were both HOSA advisors and Health Science teachers with UISD.
