Maricela Moreno

Maricela M. Moreno, joined her savior Friday, February 17, 2012. She was surrounded by her husband Joe Moreno and her children Joe and Valerie and numerous sisters, family members and friends.Maricela was born on December 10, 1945 to Minerva G. Melendez and (+)Guadalupe Melendez. She attended Laredo Public Schools and graduated from Martin High School 1968. She worked numerous years in the retail business downtown. In 1972 she married Joe Moreno and moved to California where he was stationed in the Navy. Upon their return to Laredo, TX, she continued working until they stared a family.She is survived by her husband of 39 yrs Joe Moreno, her children Joe Moreno III (Elizabeth), and Valerie Lucio (Jaime) as well as her loving grandchildren Jaime Francisco Lucio III, Lily Ann Lucio, and Joey Moreno IV. She is also survived by her Mother Minerva G. Melendez, Siblings Eva Melendez (Juan), Armandina Martinez, (+)Rafael Melendez (Graciela), (+)Roberto Melendez, Minerva Rojas (Juventino) Ofelia Melendez (Ricardo), Virginia Castillo (+ Roel), Herminia Vera (Ramon), Imelda Melendez, Antonio Melendez (Rosa), Rosario Jimenez (Rosalio), and numerous aunts, cousins, friends and other family members.She touched so many lives with her unselfish caring loving attitude. She loved to sew, cook, and take care of her plants, and enjoyed watching her novelas while eating popcorn. She looked forward to carne asadas, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with her family. She will be greatly missed by those she touched.Visitation hours will begin from 4:00 p.m.- 9:00pm on Tuesday at Fred Dickey Funeral Home at 4502 Thomas Ave. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday the chapel will be open at 8:00 a.m. with a procession to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Holy Mass being held at 10:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements are by Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, 4502 Thomas Ave. Laredo, TX 78041.
