Maria Del Rosario Davalos, 71, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 9, 2024. She worked for the Texas Department of Human Services for 30 years. Family was very important to her and she loved giving back by fostering children.
Ms. Davalos is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Angela Davalos; siblings, Graciela (Arcadio) Alegria and Alfredo Davalos.
She is survived by her children, Alex (Irma) De Luna, Rene (Susan Rogers) De Luna, Ruben De Luna, Daniel Davalos and Chris Davalos; siblngs, Rev. Carlos Davalos, Maria C. Hernandez, Angela P. (Reynaldo) Gomez and Dolores Davalos; grandchildren, Alex (Alma) De Luna Jr., Karina (Fernando Tays IV) De Luna, Stephanie (Ramiro) Gonzalez, Valeria De Luna, James and Henry De Luna; great grandchildren, Michael, Fernando V and Mason Tays, Emily and Xavier Gonzalez and Alex De Luna III.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday, June 13, 2024 in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rene De Luna, James De Luna, Servando Paredes, Raul Alegria, Alex De Luna, Jr., and Reynaldo Gomez. Honorary pallbearers will be Dolores “Loli” Davalos, Angela “Pati” Patricia Gomez and Carlos Davalos.

My most heartfelt condolences to the entire family. I knew Ms. Davalos from Lutheran Social Services where she served as a foster parent with passion, commitment and most importantly with much love. She was an extraordinary lady, always on time with tasks, appointments and everything that was needed to fulfill her foster mother duties. In 2007 we (the agency) recognized her as and outstanding foster parent and nominated her for foster parent of the year... She was lovingly featured in the Laredo morning times. Thank you for your love and commitment Ms Davalos. Rest in peace 🕊️✝️
My momma...you were there for all my firsts...I cannot be there for yours, but i was there for all your lasts...I tried my best to make your end tlme fun and loving...with loli along side us i know you laughed and still managed to correct us...the last lesson was an honor...those long into the night conversations were very enjoyable...we love you...I miss you and i will always love and remember you
