Maria Del Carmen Sawyer

Maria Del Carmen Sawyer, 87 was called by our Lord on Friday, August 10, 2012. “Carmen” as she was affectionately called was born in Laredo, TX on August 20, 1925.She started working for Southwestern Bell in 1944 as a PBX operator and retired as a supervisor after 37 years of faithful service.She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and was always eager to share her faith with others. Over the years, she taught catechism classes to many Laredoans.She was married to William Sawyer whom she loved dearly and with whom she traveled and shared a lifetime of happy memories.She was preceded in death by her husband: William Sawyer; parents Martinano and Esperanza Bazan; and by her siblings, Martinano Bazan Jr., Estela Ramirez and Jose Bazan.She is survived by her brother Guadalupe (Bertha +) and by her sisters: Victoria (Joel) Rocha and Mague (William) Harpe.
