Margarita V. Prado
July 21, 1929 – January 3, 2022
Our beloved mother, Margarita V. Prado, was called by her Creator from this earthly life to take hold of her eternal reward in heaven on Monday, January 3, 2022. Surrounded by her loving daughters and granddaughter, she took her last breath and peacefully departed to the enjoyments of a new and glorious life.
Margarita was born in Laredo, Texas on July 21, 1929 and was 92 years old at the time of her departure home to God. She was preceded in death by her husband Lucio Prado Jr, her parents Ismael and Margarita Viera, Brothers Ismael Viera, Jr and Ruben Viera,
Granddaughter Gabriela R. Shumway, great-great grandson Jackson Montgomery Obregon and nephew Gilberto Viera, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Elsa Zamarripa who gave her dedicated and loving care for 24 hours during all her illness and before, Diana Romero, Edna (Luis) Balderas, Rosa Maria (Richard) McDonald and Lucio Prado III.
Her loving sister, Alicia Viera, brothers, Candelario (Araceli) Viera, Julian (Bernardina) Viera, Gilberto (Maria) Viera.
Her grandchildren, Claudine (Rodolfo) Rodriguez, Jr, Simon (Marisa) Cardenas, Samuel (Norma) Cardenas, Erica (Ricardo) Solis, Margaret Romero, Raul (Mary) Romero III, David L. Puente, Brittany Puente, Alberto (Kiona) Romero, Lucio Prado IV, Kimberly (Jose) Padron and Leslie Prado. 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Cardenas, Raul Romero III, Rodolfo Rodriguez, Jr, Alberto Romero, Benicio Solis, Mateo Solis, Richard McDonald and Rodolfo Rodriguez, III.
The family wishes to particularly thank her primary care physician, Jose I. Ruiz Rodriguez, M.D. and her gastroenterologist, Anthony Galan, M.D. for their untiring efforts and support they provided to her family.
To the many family and friends of Margarita who followed her with thoughts, love and prayers through her journey, we offer our prayers of gratitude for you as we ask the Holy Spirit to bless you with everlasting grace. Margarita will be greatly missed by her family and friends but are comforted knowing that she is now at peace in a place where tears, sickness and pain are no more.
The family will be gathering on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. A Holy Rosary will begin at 9:00 am. Funeral services will follow to St. Patrick Catholic Church where the funeral mass will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
