Linda Segura Madrigal
August 14, 1958 – October 01, 2020
Our dear Linda has left her earthly bonds to join our Lord and our dearly departed family to share in their festivities in heaven. In this she is blessed.
Linda was born August 14, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois. A city she loved and fondly remembered. She often recalled the chilly weather and missed signature food, like Chicago style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, and deep-dish pizzas. Linda was a hard worker and would endeavor to excel at all she did. She began working at the young age of 19 and continued until she could work no more this past April. Linda became a nurse, and she would spend most of her career caring for our city’s youngest citizens. She started in the NICU then in Labor and Delivery and later transitioned to Pediatrics. She loved kids, and she loved learning new things. In her later years, Linda would continue her education earning her bachelors and masters to become a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She was a gifted diagnostician, making connections to find practical solutions. For 43 years she served the Laredo Community as nurse, nursing department supervisor, home health nurse and lastly as an FNP.
Linda was also an armchair historian; no doubt she could have taken on the best in Jeopardy and won. She also loved action films and Star Trek, particularly the character of Spock. Linda loved food and was an exceptional cook. She loved all kinds of food, but had a fondness for traditional Mexican foods. Linda would cook Menudo, Cochinito Pibil, Tinga, Pozole, phenomenal salsas, sopas, and so much more. Her greatest joy was sharing her scrumptious delights with her family and friends.
On October 1st, Linda lost her battle with cancer, but true to whom she was, and like so many in our family, she fought like a warrior. Linda is preceded in death by her sister Maria Elia Montemayor, her mother Clotilde Cortez Segura, and her father Eufemio Segura. She is survived by her adored children Kristie Marie Madrigal and Federico Madrigal IV, her sisters Maria G. (Jesus) Flores, Emma (Juan) Leza, her brothers Arturo (Maria A.) Segura and Tomas (Maria L.) Segura and her Brother-In-Law, Carlos Montemayor. She is also survived by her beloved nieces that she grew up with Sylvia Montemayor, Leticia (Daniel) Guardiola, Araceli (David) Salas, Ana Laura (Mike) Urie, and other nephews and nieces she helped to deliver Jesse Flores, Melissa (Jared) Johnson, Jaki (Zane) Milakovic, Becca (Nahuel) Leza, and Johnny Leza as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, close relatives and friends and her furry puppies.
