Obituary

Laura Marta DeLeon, born November 25, 1949 went to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 17, 2021.

Laura was a dedicated teacher in the San Marcos ISD for many years, and also in the Laredo United ISD from which she retired in 2008. She later continued to serve students as a substitute teacher. She was a woman of deep faith and loved participating in her prayer group.

Laura always remembered to send cards to loved ones for every occasion. She had a voracious appetite for great food and always enjoyed a stimulating conversation. Sincere condolences to the Gutierrez Family...?? Laura, will forever be in our hearts. There isn’t just one memory to reflect on, there are so many. I will always remember her smile that reflected into our lives. She was both courageous and strong. Her {Faith}, gave her purpose. Never taking anything for granted, Laura loved her family and most especially, her two sons. Her friends were extended family to her. To have known Laura was a blessing in itself. Whenever you would be in company with Laura, you knew adventurous moments would be remembered. I will remember Laura always for the Life that she lived. She is in Heaven now, reunited with her Mother and other individuals who passed before her. Thank you (Loli’s) for all the Joy you gave us. Until we meet again...Amen ??

Extending deep and heartfelt sympathy to Laura's family. Laura and I were shopping buddies. We enjoyed going downtown seeking bargains. We would work up an appetite walking the streets of Laredo. Afterwards we would sit down at one of our favorite restaurants and indulge. I will miss her so much.

I considered Laura a friend, not just a co-worker. I will miss her infectious laughter, her candor, and her positivity. One of the last times we spoke, when I shared my difficulty in caregiving for my mother who has Alzheimer’s disease, she took some time to comfort me with her kind words. May her light continue to shine in this world and may God wrap his loving arms around her. ✝️??

Laura was a beautiful human-being who had the heart and soul of an Angel to both her family and close friends. My wife Debbie, daughter Camila, and I will miss her greatly and remember the beautiful person that she was. We know that she is at peace now and that all pain, worry, and suffering is gone. She was one of the most faithful Christians that I have ever known, and she and her Maker already know each other well. She never missed a birthday or special occasion with my family, and getting her notes of joy and love will leave a hole in our lives. The best thing is that she is with our Mom and Dad, many Gutierrez and Garcia aunts and cousins! Life in HEAVEN will never be the same. So many loving memories too numerous to count! And we will miss her always closing every conversation with us with a MUAH (kiss)!!!!
