Laura Lopez, 76, entered into eternal rest, Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Laura was born on August 30, 1948, in Laredo, Texas and was a proud graduate of Martin High School. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Over the years, she became an integral part of the LISD, working as a dedicated substitute teacher, primarily at Alma Pierce Elementary School. Her passion for education was evident, as she often volunteered her time as a chaperone and was actively involved in school fundraisers and events, always showing up to support her children and the community.
Laura was a woman of deep faith and a devoted Catholic who attended Mass at San Martin De Porres Church and also loved going to adoration at LMC Chapel. She was also an active participant in the March of Dimes, showing her caring heart for others in need.
A woman of energy and joy, Laura loved staying active. She enjoyed walking as a form of exercise and could often be found dancing to her favorite music or listening to live performances. Family was at the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Laura enjoyed watching movies, eating at Luby’s with her relatives and friends, shopping and a good joke. She had a playful spirit and was caring and affectionate.
Laura was known for her big heart, her capacity for forgiveness, and her lightheartedness. Her infectious laughter and playful personality could brighten the room, and her ability to be silly and carefree reminded everyone around her to cherish life’s little moments. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Mrs. Lopez is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Amelia Garcia; daughter in law, Rosa Escobedo Lopez; siblings, Roberto Garcia, Graciela Martinez, Lucilla Contreras, Rafael Garcia, Leticia Garcia, Amelia Garcia and Carlos Garcia.
