Obituary

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

Mrs. Juanita C. Dovalina, 88, joined our Lord in His Heavenly Kingdom on Saturday, July 9, 2022, after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Agustin Dovalina, Jr. Her son and daughter: Hector Rene Dovalina; and, Irene Dovalina Walker. Parents: Paula and Felix Castaneda, Sr. Brothers and sisters: Hilda C. (Federico+) Sepulveda; Hector Castaneda; Paula C. Mercado; Maria C. Guadalupe Herrera.

Our “Mom” as she was affectionately known by almost everyone, was born on November 24, 1933, in Laredo, Texas to parents, Paula and Felix Castaneda, Sr. She met and married the love of her life, Agustin Dovalina, Jr. in 1954, and together they grew their loving family. She was a lifetime homemaker but, later worked at Laredo’s old, Mercy Hospital retiring after a 23-years’ work career there. Mom was the sweetest, kindest, most loving person one could ever hope to meet. No one ever left hungry when visiting or felt like a stranger in her home. She was a very spiritual and devout individual that would always offer a daily prayer for anyone in need—a true, “prayer warrior” who instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of always staying in Faith despite life’s many trials and travails. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan as well as, a proud, “once a tiger; always a tiger” Martin high School graduate.

As she now joins our “Pop” in Paradise, left to cherish her beloved memory are: her children: Son: Agustin (Mucia) Dovalina, III; Daughters: Hilda (Jerry) Castro; Imelda (Rick) Villarreal; Irma Dovalina (Javier Rocha); and, Son: Raymundo (Antonia) Dovalina of Flint, TX.
