Juan R. Valdez, 82, of Laredo, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Born on January 6, 1943, Juan lived a life characterized by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
A proud graduate of Martin High School in 1961, Juan carried the spirit of determination into his years of service in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. He was an avid musician who shared his talent as a member of the Valdez Brothers Orchestra. In 2006, he was honored with induction into the Martin Tiger Legend Hall of Fame. His commitment to serving others continued throughout his 30-year career with the United States Postal Service.
Juan is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Andrea G. Valdez, parents, Antonio Agustin Valdez & Concepcion L. Valdez, siblings, Mike Valdez, Timoteo Valdez and James Valdez. He is survived by his son Leopoldo (Diana) Ayala, Jr., siblings Antonio (Mary Alice) Valdez, Ricardo (Gisela) Valdez, Estela Valdez Lopez, and Felipe Valdez, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
In celebration of Juan’s remarkable life, a memorial service will be held in his honor on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 am. Military honors will be held by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard.
