Obituary

Jose Rangel Jr., 60, of Laredo, Texas passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Bertha Alicia Morales-Rangel and Jose F. Rangel Sr.; sisters, Eloisa Rangel and Rosa Lopez; nephews, Matthew Rebeles and Gerardo Rivera; fur grandbabies, Chato, Duke, and Bandit.

He was born in Laredo, Texas on February 11, 1959. He lived on the south side of Chicago, Illinois from the age of six. At the age of  14, he returned to Laredo where he attended Martin High School in 1974 and was a proud member of the JROTC’s Rangers.

Jose married Alma Diana in a civil marriage on August 19, 1977 in Laredo, Texas. Once married they moved to Austin, Texas and were married at San Jose Church on December 30, 1978.

Mr. Rangel worked at Dr. Ikes in 1976. He worked with Manpower in 1977 and attended school to complete his GED. In 1981, Jose received his certificate from Trainco Truck Driver Training Program. He was employed with El Metro Transit System from 1984 to 1995 as a bus operator and as a supervisor. Jose worked for Trans Texas as a truck driver from 1995 to 1997; Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution/Bax Global from 1997 to 2007. His last job was with Flying J from 2008 to 2009.

Jose was a hardworking, family-oriented man. He loved driving 18-wheelers, especially MAC trucks, and was a Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Alma Diana Rangel; children, Juanita Eloisa Rangel, Valeria Rangel, Yvette Alicia Rangel, Anissa Marie Rangel, and Xavier Antonio Rangel; fur grandbabies, Chip, Damien, Bear, Chewy, Lucas and Gizmo; sisters, Rachel Castillo and Rebecca Rangel and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Milton Haber, Dr. Maria Regalado, Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa, Doctors Hospital ICU nurses: Gabriel, Jorge, Martin, Monse, Yamil, and Charge Nurse Jenny.

The family will be receiving guests Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will start at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. The funeral mass will start at 8:30 am. Cremation will be held at a later date.

Pallbearers: Marco Antonio Garcia, Rosalio Herrera, Manuel Lopez, Rico Lopez, Izaya Rangel, Valeria Rangel, Xavier Antonio Rangel, and Javier Rivera. Honorary Pallbearers: Thomas Morales, Jr., Dino Gonzalez, Matthew Rebeles (+), Gerardo Rivera (+).

My deepest condolences to Alma and the "girls". CHEPO was so proud of his family. My cousin never changed. Smiling all the x when he was baby, and when he was adult. Prima! Was his greeting. He will be missed, and he is resting now with our Lord.
