Jose Luis was preceded in death by his parents Martin Solis and Hortencia Castañeda Solis and his brothers, Hector Solis, Oscar Solis, and Pablo Solis.
Jose Luis, or “Wicho” as he was affectionately known to friends and family, lived a life full of laughter and happiness. His good humor was contagious, and every person who met him and knew him remembers him as a warmhearted, caring, fun-loving human being. He embodied the idea that “There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t met yet.” He was the definition of a gentleman. His love for his family was unending and unequaled, and his greatest delight was when his children and grandchildren gathered for a fun family time.
Jose Luis worked in the freight forwarding business for many decades. Later in life, he indulged his passion for good food by opening Laredo Salsa’s Restaurant and Sushi Grill, which quickly became a favorite destination for many Laredoans. He treated every customer and employee like family.
He also derived much joy, and often much pain, as a lifelong avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Every game day found him in his Cowboys gear ready to cheer on his team, win or lose. One of the standout moments as a fan was attending Super Bowl XXVII in California and watching his Cowboys win. When asked what his favorite color was, he always replied “Cowboy blue.”
