Obituary

“Without labor, nothing prospers.” (Sophocles)

Mr. Jose Alberto Trevino, age 87, of Laredo, Texas passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Jose Alberto accomplished many feats in his life as a Son, Husband, Father, Businessman, and Marine Veteran. Mr. Trevino’s humility and generosity is evident in the lasting philanthropy, friendships, knowledge, and work he has left behind. Trevino’s (Travis) Welding is the Legacy to which the effort of Trevino lives on forever. The work Mr. Trevino contributed to city monuments as well as commercial and residential structures depict the values and skills that he has instilled in his five sons: Jose Alberto Jr. (Albert), Humberto (Bob), Alfredo ( Freddy), Richard, and Edward (Eddie). It has always been the ambition of Trevino to leave behind not only trade but worth ethic in the minds and hearts of his boys.

Mr. Trevino’s example taught his sons to embrace manual labor and employ generosity whenever possible; a skill they hope to pass on to their children. In many ways, Jose Alberto possessed the properties of Iron (the base of his trade). Like IRON, Trevino was the strong foundation that supported his family, friends, and the community he cared so much for. His malleability allowed him to be put under tremendous stress and not break. And, finally, could be extremely magnetic. Jose Alberto’s good nature and humoristic personality contributed to this attractiveness; he will always be remembered as a hardworking jokester with a warm heart.

Mr. Trevino is preceded in death by his wife Bertha Garcia Trevino and daughter in law Lizzy Trevino and is survived by his sons: Jose Alberto Jr., Humberto (Claudia), Alfredo (Patricia), Richard (Sylvia), Edward (Arlene); grandchildren: Jose Alberto III, Daniel, Dr. Humberto Jr., Christopher, Richard Jr. (TeJaunne), Kristine, Alexis, Amber, Edward Jr., Travis, and Nicholas.

Trevino’s legacy also is survived by his great grandchildren: Ryleigh, Mia, and Phoebe. Jose Alberto will be missed. Thank you for the world…

Remembering Alberto Treviño, a classmate of many years back. During 1951 and 1952, he rode horseback to LJ Christen School. He would leave the horse under the shade of the windbreaker trees close to the gym area. He was a jolly fellow, and I was always glad to see him and his wife at our MHS Class of '56 reunions. Wishes of peace to all his family in this time of sorrow.

Our sincere and heartfelt condolences, Albert and family of Mr. Jose Alberto Trevino. We had the pleasure and honor of knowing Jose Trevino when we worked for Laredo National Bank during the decade of the 1970's and he was a customer and friend. His obituary describes him as we remember him: hard working, industrious, likeable and possessing a great sense of humor and outlook on life. What a great legacy he left all of you.
