Jorge Ramón, 84, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 23, 2022.
Mr. Ramon is survived by his loving wife Maricela Ramón; children; Gerardo Ramón, Javier (Ana) Ramón, Rene Ramón, Ruby Ramón, Daniel (Nelda) Ramón, Linda Lee (Carlos) Ramón-Lozano; 23 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, family and friends.
From a young age, our father was a migrant worker. In 1963, he started a family and dedicated his life to his 7 children. He worked for Leyendecker Construction for 20 years then worked for the City of Laredo as a cement finisher until his retirement in 2007. He taught everyone who met him the importance of hard work. Our father struggled yet persevered. Despite it all, our mother and his family never left his side. In 2006, he was given a second chance at a prolonged life when he received a liver transplant from a gracious donor. We were blessed to enjoy him for 16 amazing years. He was a fighter and we will forever remember him as a strong, hard working man who loved music, capturing memories with his iPhone, driving all over Laredo, watching western and Sci-Fi movies, buying lotto tickets, and eating sweets. Most importantly he reminded us to laugh at our mistakes and always try again.
The family extends their gratitude to: the University Health Systems Transplant Team in SA, his liver donor and family. US Renal Care (North), LMC nurses and staff, 2nd floor ICU unit, Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa, Dr. Carlos Espinosa , Dr. Carlos Hornedo, Dr. Benson Huang and Jacqueline Valdez, FNP, Dr. David Mora, and Dr. Arthur Santos who ensured our father had the best care and quality of life. Our father is now resting and reunited with his mother, Anita Esparza, father, Ambrocio Ramón, twin brother, Roberto Ramón, and his son, Jorge Valentín Ramón.
