Obituary

Irma Isabel De Los Santos, 80, entered into eternal rest Monday, November 2, 2020.

She was born November 19, 1939 in Cotulla, TX to the late Juan and Isabel Farias. She was raised in Cotulla, her family then moved to Laredo where she met and fell in love with Alfredo De Los Santos. They married on January 7, 1962 and together they had four children. Irma had a great sense of humor and a very big heart. She gave to charities and was always the first to help people in need. Her home was open to everyone and her presence always warmed our home as she welcomed you with open arms and made you feel like a part of her family whether she knew you for one day or her entire life. She was a woman of great faith who prayed multiple times daily. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Irma loved to cook for her family and friends. To her it was all about connecting and providing. She used food as a vehicle to express her love. Our Mother could whip up a great meal on a moment’s notice out of just what was in the refrigerator and proclaim, “Oh, it’s so simple to do”. So many of the memories we had of her were about her food and therefore about her love.

She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Isabel Farias; brother, Juan “Johnny” Farias, Jr.; and her sister Yolanda Pelaez.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Alfredo De Los Santos; children, Freddy (Melissa) De Los Santos, Cesar Rene (Jackie) De Los Santos, Sara Alicia (Jose Humberto) Herrera, Rolando (Soledad) De Los Santos; grandchildren, Jennifer (Danny) Trevino, Cesar (Bethany Simpson) De Los Santos, Jr., Madison Mireles, Adriana (Ryan) Garcia, Selina De Los Santos, Damyan De Los Santos, Dyllon De Los Santos, Diego De Los Santos, Derek De Los Santos; great-grandchildren, Sebastyan Sarabia, Megan Jimenez, and Jason Jimenez; She is also survived by her siblings Teresa Ramirez, Rosario Arzamendi,  Cleotilde (Reynaldo) Palos, and Bobby (Mari) Farias; sister in law Minerva Farias; numerous nephews, nieces, as well as other family and friends who will greatly miss her. This family, and her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, was the most important thing to her.

The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will start at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020, at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am. Cremation will be held at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Cesar R. De Los Santos, Rolando De Los Santos, Jose Humberto Herrera, Cesar R. De Los Santos, Jr., Dyllon De Los Santos, Jorge De Los Santos, Ricardo Arzamendi, Christopher Cabello, Selina De Los Santos; Honorary Pallbearers, Alfredo De Los Santos, Alfredo “Freddy” De Los Santos, Jr., Carlos De Los Santos, Sr., Roberto Farias, Derek De Los Santos, Damyan De Los Santos and Diego De Los Santos.

Grandma, I miss you so much. A part of my heart went with you when you left to Heaven. I have always wanted to make sure that I am available for you and grandpa for the last 27 years. Every day for years I have told you the same thing, I am always going to be with you til the very end. I was honored today to be one of your pall bearers. Til the very end like we would say. You’re my best friend and I can’t even describe the pain that I feel knowing that you’re not here with us anymore but I know you’re always going to be with me. Grandpa is getting the care he needs. I’ve been staying with him and keeping up with house chores. It doesn’t feel the same going to your house now, something is missing and it’s you. To try to fill in that missing piece, I try to do things that remind me of you like sit on your recliner and use your Rae Dunn “Grandma” coffee mug every morning. I would do anything just to see you again. For now, I’ll continue honoring you in every way I can each day. I love you grandma. May you rest in eternity with our Father. Until we meet again x

Adriana De Los Santos posted on 11/13/20

Grandma, What an honor it was to be your granddaughter. I am so blessed that God chose you to be my grandma. My heart hurts knowing I won’t be able to call you, hug you, or kiss you. But I believe and trust in God that this is part of his greater plan despite how painful and dark this moment is for us. I can’t wait to see you again. Until then, I will look back at all our wonderful memories and continue to share our stories to others. I pray that I feel your spirit daily and that you protect us all. We are taking great care of grandpa. Don’t worry. I love you with everything I have. We’ll see each other soon. Sending you a big hug and kiss in Heaven. Love you princess. Rest In Peace.

TIO ALFREDO,Freddie, Nene, Sara and Nano, my deepest, heartfelt condolences on the passing of Tia, your BELOVED WIFE AND MOTHER. She will be MISSED IMMENSELY, she was such a beautiful Aunt, both physically and eternal. I'll cherish the conversations we would have when I visited, she was the last historian of the De Los Santos family, besides Tio. Will miss her smile, laughter and especially the "yelling" to tio to come and eat in the kitchen. I never left their house on an empty stomach, she made sure, anyone that visited had something to eat. She was a wizard at whipping a meal in a matter of minutes. I know I visited with her before the pandemic and of course, her 80th Birthday celebration, that was very nice, am glad you all, not BE, it was going to be her last Birthday.....though good memories. Though we won't see her, her presences will be felt in OUR HEARTS. REMEMBER, you all are not alone, your cousins are here to assist in any way. LOVE YOU ALL AND MAY SHE REST IN PEACE.
