It is with profound love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Irma G. Reyna, cherished wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother, who entered eternal rest on December 7, 2025.
Born and raised in Laredo, TX, Irma was born on May 4, 1945, to the late Jose Garcia and Antonia Romero de Garcia. A proud native of Laredo, she attended St. Augustine High School, graduating with the Class of 1964, where she formed friendships and values that lasted throughout her life. Fate intervened after a football game, where Irma met the absolute love of her life Miguel Reyna. That chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong commitment, and the couple was united in marriage on December 22, 1969. Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed two children, Patricia and Michael.
Irma was a woman who found joy in connecting with her community. She dedicated her professional life to the United Independent School District (UISD), where she served as a secretary for over 35 years. Her colleagues and the countless students and families she assisted remember her for her dedication, organization, driving force and warm spirit. Those who worked with Irma at Matias de Llano Elementary can still hear her say, “No hay dinero!!!”
A devoted Catholic and woman of strong faith, she lived her life with grace, humility, and kindness. Her faith guided her daily, and she shared that love and light with everyone she encountered.
Irma found great happiness in her weekly lunch dates with friends—a tradition filled with stories, smiles, and memories she held close to her heart. When asked what her plans were for the day, she always had to check her schedule to see if she was having lunch with her Newman Girls or St. Augustine Friends.
However, family was her greatest joy. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her beloved grandson, Michael Anthony, who was the light of her life. Whether celebrating milestones, holidays or simply enjoying everyday moments, her presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to every occasion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Garcia and Antonia Romero de Garcia, her sisters Yolanda Garcia and San Juanita Garcia, her brother Manuel Garcia and her in-laws, Miguel Reyna and Manuela Sanchez de Reyna.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Miguel Reyna; her children, Patricia Reyna(Alberto Parraga) and Michael G. Reyna(Maria Angelina Avila); her treasured grandson, Michael Anthony Reyna; her sibling Jose Ernesto Garcia(Lilia Garcia dec.); her sisters-in-law Corina Romero(Joaquin Romero dec.), Armandina Hernandez(Cesar Hernandez), Gloria Garcia(Manuel Garcia dec.) ; her dearest nieces and nephews; Linda Garcia, Carlos Garcia(Tara), Ricardo Garcia(Thelma), Monica Romero Sheldon(Nathan), Joaquin Romero III(Yvette), Manuel Garcia(Trisha), Jose Juan Garcia(Gina), Liz Garcia, Ana Laura Rodriguez Solis, Angelica Rodriguez Sanchez, Gabriella Rodriguez Johnson and numerous extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Her life was a testament to faith, family, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May her soul rest in God’s eternal peace and perpetual light shine upon her always.
The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm., where a rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. Cremation will be held at a later date.
