Hortencia Chavez Jimenez passed away on November 4, 2022 in Laredo, Texas at the age of 73.
She is preceded in death by Husband Jose Ricardo Jimenez, parents Juan & Manuela Chavez, in-laws Nieves & Beatriz Jimenez brother Adan Chavez, Refugio Chavez, sister Manuela Chavez, Martinez (Guadalupe), Eva Porras (Concepcion), Yolanda Gonzalez (Felix) sister-in-law Olivia Rodriguez (Hector).
Hortencia is survived by many family members: son Richard Jimenez, daughter Yvonne Jimenez (Humberto Reyna), daughter Denise L. Jimenez (Vicente Ramos III) daughter Sonya V. Molina sister Esperanza Abila (Macario), Maria Juarez (Ramon) brother-in-law Manuel Jimenez (Juanita), sister-in-law Minerva Beltran (Francisco), Guadalupe “Betty” Gonzalez (Ricardo), Rosalinda Ramos (Roberto), brother-in-law Jose Alfredo Jimenez (MaryAnn), and Ramiro Jimenez (Patricia).
Grandchildren: Samantha DeLeon (Pablo), Desiree Jimenez, Sabrina Soto (Edwin Gonzalez), Valerie Musquiz (Andres), Daniel M. Loera, Jose Ugarte (Jackie), Carla V. Loera, Richard Jimenez Jr.
12 Great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews Jimenez and Chavez.
Hortencia was born in Barstow, Texas where she lived her young years till her family moved to Pecos, Texas. She was 12 years old when they moved to Pecos. Pecos is a small town however she enjoyed living there and going to school. Hortencia was 17 when she decided to go to El Paso, Texas to study for her GED Diploma. While studying in El Paso she met Ricardo and fell in love. She married Ricardo and relocated to Laredo, Texas. She often spoke of how different life was. She was used to living in her small west Texas hometown Pecos. Hortencia learned to love Laredo where her and Ricardo started their family. Hortencia worked for over 20 years at Whataburger as an assistant manager. Hortencia retired and continued to enjoy life of being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Cooking for her family and making homemade tortillas is what brought her so much joy. Hortencia was a huge fan of football and spent her Sundays rooting for her favorite team The Dallas Cowboys. Hortencia’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and looked forward to it every year. Hortencia was loving and caring and has left a huge imprint for her family and beautiful memories for them to carry in their hearts.
Hortencia was a Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend she will be dearly missed by those blessed to have shared in her journey.
The family will be receiving guests on Monday, November 7, 2022, in the Angelus chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at San Luis Rey Catholic Church located at 3502 Sanders Ave, Laredo, TX 78040. The Funeral Mass will begin at 8:30 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Jimenez, Richard Jimenez Jr., Jose Ugarte, Roberto A. Musquiz, Vicente Ramos, Humberto Reyna, Daniel Loera, and Pablo DeLeon Jr.
