Hilda Gibson, 79, born in Laredo, TX. was ushered into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on October 17, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. surrounded by her children at her side.
She is survived by her three children: Sons Roger (Joanna) Garcia, III, Gerardo Garcia, and daughter Lizette (Mike) Covarrubia, her dear grand-children: Ashley Garcia, Eduardo Garcia, David Garcia, Ana Laura Garcia, Fernando Garcia, and Micaela Covarrubia, her siblings, Henry (Thelma) Fernandez, Jr, Rosie Reyes, and various nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Charles ‘Hoot’ Gibson, her parents Henry and Modesta Fernandez, and her brother Joel Fernandez.
Hilda’s career spans 40+ years. She was a teacher with L.I.S.D. early in her career and later worked as a counselor with U.I.S.D. until she retired. She loved spending time with her grand-children, going out to have lunch with her friends, and traveling with her children & grandchildren. She had a deep faith in God and instilled in her children and grand-children to love and honor God. God’s love poured out into everything she did. Her smile and voice were as warm as the morning sun and comforting to all who would see her and talk with her, always smiling and encouraging others. She remained strong and active and was determined not to allow anything to keep her from living life to the fullest. Hilda will be greatly missed and loved dearly by all who knew her.

Hilda and I met when my nephew married her beautiful daughter. We went together to Laredo one day to get our hair done at her hairdresser. I spent the night at her home in Laredo. We had such fun! We shared our love for Jesus.
Hilda and I enjoyed a overnight trip to her home in Laredo, we went and got our hair done. Hilda always looked like a model, so beautiful! We enjoyed eating out together when we were able. We shared our faith in our Lord Jesus continually and even on Facebook. I will miss her. Until I see her again in that mansion God has prepared.
Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not judged but has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24
