Guadalupe S. Ortiz, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the age of 94 at Laredo Medical Center, in Laredo, Texas.
Guadalupe was born and raised in Laredo, Texas where she attended Martin High School. She did not have the opportunity to complete high school, as she had to work to help the household while her brothers completed their education. Penney, from which she retired as a department manager. She was known to many as “Lupita la del J.C. Penney” and was very proud to have been able to retire, from what in her eyes, was a very distinguished company.
Guadalupe was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo N. Ortiz, her parents, Jose Maria and Luz G. Sanchez, her siblings, Inez Agustin (Leonor) Sanchez, Jose Maria (Juanita) Sanchez and Juan Jose (Alicia) Sanchez; her parents-in-law, Jose and Trinidad Ortiz, sister-in-law, Susana O. Cuellar; brothers in-law, Jose & Hilda Maria Ortiz and Gilberto Ortiz; her son-in-law, Fred Felan.
Guadalupe is survived by her sister Juanita E. (Alberto) Cortez; sister-in-law, Victoria Ortiz; her children, Zulema Ortiz, Laura O. (Agustin) Maldonado, Gloria Felan, Alfredo Ortiz Jr., and Alberto (Priscilla) Ortiz; she is survived by her grandchildren Jose Alfredo (Martha) Maldonado, Marco Antonio Maldonado, Roman Lopez, Luis Maldonado, Erik (Marisol) Felan, Noelia (Adrian) Diaz, Dr. Cristina Maldonado, Alberto Ortiz Jr., Johnny Hernandez and Amanda Nicole Ortiz; her great-grandchildren, Joe Gionni Gaytan, Jose Alfredo “Joji” Maldonado, Jasiel Maldonado, Lexi Audry Diaz, Agustin “Auggie” Maldonado, and Adrian Diaz Jr. all of which she dearly loved.
