Guadalupe Moreno Sr., 92, entered into the loving arms of the heavenly father on Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Born in McAllen, Texas on April 12, 1928, his family moved to Nuevo Rosita, Coahuila when he was a young boy. At the age of 15, he moved to Monclova, Coahuila. It was here that he learned the welding trade at Altos Hornos de Mexico. It was also in Monclova, at only 20 years young, that he met the love of his life, Lorenza.
After relocating to Laredo, Texas, he began welding for Border Foundry, Modern Machine Shop, and eventually, started his own welding business. It was also in Laredo where he established his family-10 daughters and 4 sons. After retiring from welding, Guadalupe re-entered the business world by opening several convenience stores and worked tirelessly to support his family until retirement at the age of 70.
Guadalupe’s legacy is culminated in the dedication he had to his businesses, despite his lack of formal education. He never let his hands idle and was always determined to provide sustenance for his family. While Guadalupe leaves behind a bountiful life built by a rare work ethic, perhaps the greatest thing he leaves is his beautiful family- who love and miss him endlessly.
Mr. Moreno is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Ester Barajas Moreno and his children Bertha A. and Rolando Moreno.
Guadalupe is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lorenza B. Moreno; three sons, Javier (Sonia) Moreno, Guadalupe (Armida) Moreno, Rene Moreno (Christina Gutierrez); nine daughters, Esther (Donald) Baker, Rosa E. (Nick+) Varela, Yolanda (John) Bulick, Graciela (Kenneth) Bard, Dora (Daniel) Reyes, Norma (Rolando) Garcia, Veronica (John) Solis, Martha Pena, Vangie (Marc) Farmer; 24 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
