Gregorio Galvan, 75, known to all as Goyo, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Mr. Galvan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He proudly served his Country in 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper for the U.S Army. His life was full of adventure, he enjoyed riding horses, flying planes and hunting. He was a Charro for the Charros of Eagle Pass where he successfully completed the Paso de la Muerte, probably the most risky event of the charrería. Goyo received his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying cessnas to Uvalde and San Antonio.
A true businessman, Goyo had a successful, one-of-kind skateboard shop on Santa Maria Road in the 1990’s. Known to all as RiverCity Skate Shop, he installed a half pipe for the community to enjoy the skateboard scene.
Goyo was known for his one liners that included: “Holding”, “La Paz Bolivia”, “Sigue la flecha”, “HELLO”, “Calmate”, “Ya duermanse”, “Cacahuates”, “Tirando aceite” and “una feria”.
He is preceded in death by his son; Gregorio Galvan, Jr., grandsons; Lucio Andres Gutierrez and William Osorio, parents; Santiago Galvan Miranda and Guadalupe Trevino de Galvan and brother; Javier (Rosa+) Galvan.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years of marriage; Maria Gloria Galvan, children; Ana (Neill “Gobie” Walsdorf) Montoya, Jose Montoya, Claudia (Jerry Jalomo) Nava, Santiago Omar (Adriana) Galvan, Cristal (Andrew Kutler) Galvan, grandchildren; Jose (Daniela) Montoya, Jr., Louis Davila, Gregorio Galvan, III., Andrea (Josafat Reyes) Galvan, great grandchildren; Ava Nicole Gutierrez, Elliott Davila, Daniel Montoya, Andres Montoya, Ariella Reyes, Gianna Renee Gonzalez, siblings; Santiago (Josefina) Galvan, Laura (Fernando+) Garza, Oscar (Lourdes) Galvan, Elsa (Alberto+) Gonzalez and Sergio (Mary) Galvan.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Military Honors will be held at Fred Dickey Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 6:30 pm. Cremation services will be held at a later date.
