Glenn Wayne Lane Jr. entered into the kingdom of Valhalla (A Warrior’s Heaven) on September 30th 2024. He came into this world on June 17th 1976 in Lakeland, Florida and was raised in Bartow. Glenn was the youngest of three to Margaret Jean Wiley and Glenn Lane Sr.
Growing up, Glenn admired his father and mother. However, he grew closer to his father as they spent hours and days out by the lake fishing. During that time, is where he learned so much from his father. He was known as “Chip” by family and friends. Fishing became a part his life. He loved it so much. It’s where he felt serenity and peace the most.
In 1992, Glenn joined the United States Army and after 911 he was one of the first recruited to do his first tour in Afghanistan. And Again a second deployment to the same country of Afghanistan. His motto was Nulla vestigia retrorsum (No Retreat, No Steps Backwards). Glenn’s devotion and commitment to his country earned him the rank of Sergeant by the time of his retirement (2006). After his retirement from the Armed Forces, he became a U. S. Border Patrol from 2008 until 2024. Glenn proudly served his country with devotion and loyalty almost his entire lifetime.
On August 13, 2019, he married Clarissa L. Lopez and became a devoted husband and a stepfather to Dominick Shea De Luna Avila. The family enjoyed spending time together and fishing. His favorite hangout spot was at Applebee’s where he developed friends and in time became as family.
Glenn was proceeded in death by Mother Margaret Jean Wiley Lane and Father Glenn Lane Sr. He is survived by his wife Clarissa Lane, stepson Dominic S. De Luna Avila, Sisters Deborah Lynn Lane and Leslie Dawn Lane, nieces & nephews Lane Danielle Forkel, Madeline J. Franz, Morgen F. Franz, Gregory S. McClelland (Mack), & Kacie L. McClelland, and close friends Chris Shank, Gino Rios & Michael Barron.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the amazing staff at Doctors Hospital ICU for the care provided to the Lane family. Also, to Border Patrol Peer Support, Supervisors, Agents and Chaplin’s association for their attentiveness during this difficult time.
Please join us in a celebration honoring Glenn on October 21st 2024 from 2 – 6pm, with military honors at 5pm at Fred Dickey funeral home 1320 Trey Dr. Laredo,TX
