Gilberto Castillo, age 62, entered into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on December 25, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.

Born in Laredo, Texas, on August 5, 1962, to Concepcion Arredondo and Juan Castillo, Gilberto lived a life of devotion to his family, By fate, he met and married his lifelong partner, San Juanita Castillo, in Laredo, Texas. The couple married in 1986 and celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2024.

A dedicated and hardworking family man, Gilberto tirelessly devoted himself to providing for his family, ensuring his grandchildren were cherished and protected with unwavering care. He found joy in family gatherings, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and listening to his favorite music.

Gilberto leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, San Juanita Castillo; his children, Gilberto Castillo Jr., Melinda (Matthew) Castillo-Sanchez, and Cindy (Edgar) Castillo-Jimenez; his treasured grandchildren, Evan Gilberto Castillo, Ethan Castillo, Larissa R. Sanchez, and Nayeli Sanchez; his brothers, Gabriel Castillo, Ramon (Sandra) Castillo, Martin (Irma) Castillo, and Francisco Martinez; his sisters, San Juanita Torres, Anita Castillo-Garcia, Gabriela Tobias, and Mary (Matthew) Rhea; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Concepcion Arredondo and Juan Castillo; his father-in-law, Jose Tereso Compean; his mother-in-law, Balbina Compean; and his brother-in-laws, Jose Jesus Compean and Efrain “Arby” Compean.

Gilberto’s warmth, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from the funeral home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
