Obituary

Florencio “Wayne” Garcia left this world suddenly on August 8, 2022 at the age of 69, in his hometown of Laredo,Texas. He passed away at his residence.

Preceded in death by mother Hortencia Garcia and brother Eduardo Garcia.

Survived by:

The loves of his life, his 3 sons David Anthony Garcia (Maricela), Gabriel Alexander Keene (Ana), Albert Aaron Garcia, and 4 grandchildren Christian Anthony Garcia, Tiffany Ava Garcia, Silas Alexander Keene, and Ezra Austin Keene

Father: Florencio Garcia Jr.

Siblings: Hortencia Peña (Vicente), Dalia Garcia, Rene Garcia (Elsa)

Nephews/Nieces: Vicente Peña, Ricardo Peña, Eduardo Peña, Javier Peña, Linda Martinez, Jesse Garcia, Eduardo “Eddie Boy” Garcia, Enrique “Kike” Garcia, Michelle Garcia, and Devin Garcia.

He also had many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In his professional career he held many prestigious positions at several institutions such as the City of Laredo, Webb County, and finally Laredo Community College where he was Assistant Director of Financial Services. The department received several A+ ratings because of his hard work and dedication to his job. He was bestowed the Administrator of the Year Award shortly before his retirement.

He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Astros, but his true passion was music. He loved all types of music, especially The Beatles. He would pick up his guitar anywhere, anytime to sing and play his heart out for hours on end. You might have seen him singing karaoke at the restaurants and bars around town. Never afraid, in fact, eager to be the first one on stage to sing a song. If you knew Wayne you know his great sense of humor as he was always cracking jokes, smiling and laughing with his friends and family.

We would like to thank Jesus “Wencho” Meza. He was a very loyal friend to Wayne since high school. Thank you for always being there for him. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.

Wayne’s jokes and laughter will be dearly missed. He was a friend to everyone and loyal to many.

As our father would say, “Rockers never die, they fade away, and multiply.” Until we meet again Dad, you are in our hearts forever.

Cousin Wayne, May you return to him who formed you from the dust of the earth. May holy Mary, the angels, and all the saints come to meet you as you go forth from this life. May Christ who was crucified for you bring you freedom and peace. May Christ who died for you admit you into his garden of paradise. I am sharing in your sadness as you remember Wayne. God bless you!
