Fernando Gloria

Fernando Gloria, 67, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2011 surrounded by his family in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Gloria was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He graduated from Zapata High School. Mr. Gloria, a proud American served his country in the United States Army, where he proudly served in the Vietnam War stationed in Thailand. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device (1960), Expert Qualification Badge with Automatic Rifle Bar and Sharpshooter Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. Mr. Gloria was a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for 35 years and was employed as the Director of Nurses for the Retama Manor West and was also employed at Doctor’s Hospital. Mr. Gloria was the owner of Gloria’s Grocery for over 40 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Gloria; mother, Trinidad Gloria and brother, Juan Jose Gloria. Mr. Gloria is survived by his wife of 42 years, Yean Gloria, daughter, Josie (JJ) Gloria-Contreras; daughter, Teresa Gloria and son, Gerardo (Maria Ruiz) Gloria. Grandchildren: Frankie & Fernando Benavides, Karina Contreras, Aaron Salazar, Jr. and Kai Lynn Gloria and many other relatives.The family will be receiving friends and family at Fred Dickey Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 5pm-9pm, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from Fred Dickey Funeral Home to San Jose Catholic Church at 9:00a.m. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
