A Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 pm
Eduardo Cavazos, 85, entered into eternal rest Monday, December 7, 2020.
Lalo was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and was quick to become a staple in the city for all of his achievements. Through hard work, determination and perseverance he became quite the businessman. Owner of Lalo’s Sportsman’s Club, El Pozo for 40 years, he was always first to offer to host fundraisers, plate sales, sponsor sports teams and help anyone in need. He also held a number of admirable recognition’s such as the Tejano Achievers, Chamber of Commerce Person of the Year, and also co-founded the Latin American International Sports Hall of Fame. He was later inducted into the Hall of Fame and held multiple positions from 1988-2020. His bar was recognized by Texas Monthly as one of Texas’ best dive bars in Jan 2017.
Mathew 25: 34-36 “34, Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35, For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in. 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”
To know Lalo was to love him. He was always willing to help without expecting anything in return. Always social and giving. Graciously giving up anything he had to help anyone in need because he was a provider to his community. The type of man whose smile could light up even the darkest of days, and the type of man you hope to see more of in the world. He reminded us all that happiness does not come from possessions but from being good and doing good, working hard and taking the time for the most important thing, his family. Creating lifelong memories that will live on in all of us. From Easter celebrations and eating carne asada at his ranch the 4 Comas, to drinking a cold beer at the Cantina after a long hot day. No matter how simple the event was, it was always the company of his loved ones that gave him the most joy.
Today we say good-bye, but eternity awaits, until then we will cheer to Lalo and all that he has given to us.
“And when God takes you back, He’ll say, “Hallelujah, you’re home”.
Lalo blessed us all with his life!!
