It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doroteo Sandoval, 81 on September 15, 2025.
Born on January 16,1944 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps., Mexico, Doroteo was the beloved son of Rodolfo Sandoval and Maria Violeta Sandoval.
Doroteo and family migrated to the United States at a very early age with a dream of building a better life. He attended Elementary and middle schools in Laredo, Texas and graduated from Niles High School in Michigan with highest honors and achievements. He continued his education earning a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a master’s degree from Texas A& I University in Kingsville, Texas.
In 1969, Doroteo married his ‘sweetheart’ as he would always call her, Diamantina, and together they shared 52 wonderful years of love, laughter, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to family. Doroteo adored his wife and remained devoted to her until her passing, and her loss left a void in his heart that he carried with grace.
Doroteo was also a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army and the later in the United States Army Reserves. He was a man of great integrity, compassion and kindness.
Doroteo Was a devoted family man, who worked tirelessly to support and provide for his family. His greatest pride were his children and grandchildren whom he loved deeply and made sure they understood the value of hard work, perseverance and kindness.
He was an avid lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed bike riding, gardening and making friends communicating with people around the world with his CB radio. His cheerful spirit, sense of humor, and infectious laughter will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Blanca Diamantina Sandoval, his parents, Rodolfo and Maria Violeta Sandoval, sister Maria Lourdes Polega and son in law Manuel Reyes.
Surviving him are his loving children Virna Sandoval Carrillo (Rene Gonzalez), Gabriela Sandoval Reyes (Manuel Reyes+), and Daniel I. Sandoval (Joanne Sandoval). Grandchildren Alyssa (Daniel) Moreno, Orlando Canizales, Jr., Christian Canizales, Katia K Carrillo, Ruben Dominguez, Dina D. Dominguez, Emily De Los Santos, Bobbie Jo (Jesus Garza) Moreno, Daniel I. Sandoval, Jr., Faith J Sandoval, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
The Sandoval family will be receiving guests on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from the funeral home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Funeral mass will begin at 9:00 am. Funeral services will be concluded after mass.
