Dinora Garcia, a beloved wife, sister, and aunt, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the age of 67.

Born in Laredo on July 17, 1957, Dinora was the sixth out of eight children born to Jose G. Garcia, Sr. and Anita Garcia. She was a graduate of the Martin High School Class of 1975 and attended Laredo State University (now TAMIU), where she earned a B.S. in Mathematics and English.

A gifted educator for 30 years, Dinora devoted her life to teaching and nurturing young minds at J.W. Nixon High School where she taught Mathematics. During her tenure, she served as the student council sponsor, senior class sponsor, and Master Teacher of the Mathematics Department. Her classroom was not just a place of learning but a haven of encouragement and inspiration. She believed in the power of education to change lives and took pride in seeing her students grow and succeed.

Dinora possessed an extraordinary talent for creativity. Whether crafting beautiful pieces with her hands or weaving meaningful connections with others, her creations reflected her vibrant spirit. She found joy in the little things and shared that joy with everyone she met.

Dinora is preceded in death by her parents, Jose G. Garcia, Sr., and Anita Garcia, and her sisters, Anna Benavides, Oralia Martinez, and Mary Moore. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Gerardo J. Garcia; her siblings Jose G. Garcia, Jr., Grisela (Moises) Flores, Sylvia Garcia, and Teodoro (Edna) Garcia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dinora, who spent her final days surrounded by the love of her family, now dwells in the warm embrace of our Lord, surrounded by His everlasting love and light. Dinora’s legacy of love, creativity, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

I’m so deeply sorry for your loss, please accept our deepest condolences and prayers. Hearing about Nori’s passing, which was soon after Tia Annie’s, has left me heartbroken for the Garcia Family. She truly was one of a kind and such an amazing person, she was a beautiful woman inside and out, and one of the kindest souls. No one is ever prepared to say goodbye under such circumstances. I pray during this time of grief, that you may find solace in the love and memories you shared with her. I have very fond memories of Nori that I will always cherish. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, which were many. I’ll always admire the love shared between Jerry and Nori. They shared a one-of-kind bond that can never be broken. They complemented each other like no other couple I know. May your precious memories bring you comfort. Your patience towards me always with with those encouraging words “You Can Do It”🥹 that same year in the Summer I took the math again and finally successfully I passed with a 80. My condolences goes to all the family Mrs. Garcia was an amazing person and an amazing teacher. Her class was one of my favorites to attend she always made us all laugh and made teaching fun. She will be dearly missed. May she rest in paradise.

I was a student in her class when she was a student teacher. Mrs. Garcia was an amazing teacher and great mentor outside of class. Back then, you could communicate with teachers outside of school. Former student of Mrs. Garcia here. I am very sorry to hear of her passing and fondly remember my time in her classroom where she would always go out of her way to not only teach us math, but common sense and life lessons as well. Looking back I can say she was a rare breed among educators who would not only teach you knowledge but wisdom as well, or book smarts AND street smarts as she once put it. May she rest in peace.

I’m saddened by the loss of beloved Nori. A good heart has stopped beating but a heart that has touched so many lives can’t help but live on in those that lived and were loved by her. May happy memories of her bring comfort to all at this difficult time.

Tía Nori...you were an amazingly,smart,funny woman that was beautiful on the inside like the outside. Always had your student's back just like your nieces and nephews.
