Diana C. Tamez peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the age of 75, surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 16, 1943, to Paulita Garza Morales and Luis M. Cruz in Laredo.
She attended Ursuline Academy and later became a District Supervisor for Volume Merchandise Inc.
She supervised stores in the Rio Grande Valley until the early ‘90s when she opened her own business, a casa de cambio called Divisas that later expanded in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo.
At home, she enjoyed cooking, keeping up-to-date with the latest news and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Tamez is preceded in death by Paulita G. Morales and Luis M. Cruz, her brother Gerardo Morales, step-father Carlos Morales and husband, Andres Tamez Garcia.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Marcela (Ricardo) Treviño, Andres Tamez Jr., Luis Eduardo Tamez (Maricarmen) and Diana M. Tamez, grandchildren; Saralysia (Hugo) Benavides, Gabriela A. Treviño, Carolina M. Treviño, Andres Tamez III, Gerardo A. Tamez, Luis “Wayito” Tamez, Andre Tamez, Liam Tamez, Nina Tamez, Lilianna Cabrera, Aryana Cabrera, Christian J. Cabrera and Mia Bella Ramirez, four great-grandchildren, sister; Cynthia Cruz Pentecost, sister-in-law; Dianna Morales, nieces and nephews; Gerardo (Jessica) Morales, Eduardo C. (Cristy) Morales, Vanessa (Mike) Duenez and Melizza Morales.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, June 26 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Inurnment services will follow on Friday, June 28 at 9 a.m. at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery at the family plot. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Lung Association.
