Diana Monsivais Wico, 40, was born on February 17, 1984 in Houston, Texas to Benjamin and Margarita Monsivais. The family moved to Laredo soon after she was born and lived here most of her life.
Diana graduated from Alexander High School in 2002 and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from TAMIU. She was employed as educator at LISD teaching at Tarver Elementary and then Ryan Elementary.
Diana was an exceptional early childhood teacher whose dedication and passion for her work touched the lives of countless young children. She was nominated as the KGNS teacher of the month, as well as published a children’s book. With a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, she was a consummate professional who always went above and beyond for her students. Her classroom was a place of joy and learning, where every child felt valued and inspired.
Diana leaves behind her cherished 8-year-old son, Luke, who was the light of her life. Her spirit, kindness and warmth will live on through him and all those who were fortunate to know her.
Diana is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Monsivais and her husband, Alex Wico. Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Margarita Monsivais; her sister, Cindy Monsivais (Victor) Mendoza; her brother, Benjamin (Bertha) Monsivais Jr; nephews, Eric Ferdin, Julian/Daniel Mendoza and numerous family, friends and colleagues who will forever miss her radiant smile and generous heart.
