Delia J. Sanchez, age 95, of Laredo, Texas entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 20, 2021.
Born January 29, 1926, in Laredo, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Carlos and Leocadia Juarez and was raised by the late Melchor & Ignacia Solis.
She is survived by her children, Pedro A. (Donna) Sanchez of Texarkana, Albert (Claire) Sanchez, Elva (Ruben) Rios of Houston, Delia (Enrique) Garcia, Amelia (Jesus) Rodriguez, David (Sandy) Sanchez of Corpus Christi, Javier (Cecilia) Sanchez, Patsy (Carlos) Villarreal of San Antonio, Irene Litman, as well as 25 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
The deceased is preceded in death by her spouse, Pedro A. Sanchez of 69 years of marriage, her sisters, Maria Amelia Villarreal, Ignacia Solis, Leonor Sanchez; Panchita del Toro, Antonia Esparza, Andrea Campos, her brothers Carlos Juarez, Hilario Solis, and Conrado Solis.
Delia worked in retail for many years. She was a member of San Martin de Porres Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered her time at Bethany House, Hillside Little League helping at the concession stand while her sons played baseball, and with the United High School Booster Club. Nixon High School Band Parent Association, Optimist Little League, played a big role in building Holy Family Church. The religious Education took place at their home on Saturday mornings for a number of years. She enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events, Larriette’s performance, Nixon band practices and church activities. She was a loving and dedicated mother. She was a vibrant soul, who literally lit up the room whenever she entered. Right up until she became less able to get around, our Mother was full of joy and always eager to help out, no matter what the problem was. She will be remembered for her strong religious belief in the Catholic Faith that she instilled upon her children.
The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will be officiated at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Beau Sanchez, Hector Rodriguez, Jonathan Garcia, Joseph Sanchez, Roli Rodriguez, Ruben Rios, Zachary Sanchez, and Justin Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be David Gerardo Sanchez, Javier Eduardo Sanchez, Jesus Alberto Sanchez, and Pedro Armando Sanchez.
The family will be live streaming the funeral services including Rosary at www.freddickey.com on Thursday, beginning at 5:00 pm.
