Delia J. Sanchez, age 95, of Laredo, Texas entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 20, 2021.

Born January 29, 1926, in Laredo, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Carlos and Leocadia Juarez and was raised by the late Melchor & Ignacia Solis.

She is survived by her children, Pedro A. (Donna) Sanchez of Texarkana, Albert (Claire) Sanchez, Elva (Ruben) Rios of Houston, Delia (Enrique) Garcia, Amelia (Jesus) Rodriguez, David (Sandy) Sanchez of Corpus Christi, Javier (Cecilia) Sanchez, Patsy (Carlos) Villarreal of San Antonio, Irene Litman, as well as 25 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

The deceased is preceded in death by her spouse, Pedro A. Sanchez of 69 years of marriage, her sisters, Maria Amelia Villarreal, Ignacia Solis, Leonor Sanchez; Panchita del Toro, Antonia Esparza, Andrea Campos, her brothers Carlos Juarez, Hilario Solis, and Conrado Solis.

Delia worked in retail for many years. She was a member of San Martin de Porres Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.  She volunteered her time at Bethany House, Hillside Little League helping at the concession stand while her sons played baseball, and with the United High School Booster Club. Nixon High School Band Parent Association, Optimist Little League, played a big role in building Holy Family Church. The religious Education took place at their home on Saturday mornings for a number of years. She enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events, Larriette’s performance, Nixon band practices and church activities. She was a loving and dedicated mother. She was a vibrant soul, who literally lit up the room whenever she entered. Right up until she became less able to get around, our Mother was full of joy and always eager to help out, no matter what the problem was. For all of the wonderful unforgettable Sanchez friends from our youth, I am so sorry for your great loss. Our very dear Mrs. Sanchez was our J.W. Nixon Band Den Mother. A true force of caring, comfort, reassurance, and encouragement, with a ready invitation to the Sanchez house for food, soft drinks, and fun. I am comforted that she lived a long life, and most of it with Mr. Sanchez by her side, and many of their children near. Teena and I, and all of the Arciniega family, including my Mom who remembers your mother very well from Band Parents days, send our deepest condolences for the loss of such a beautiful force in your family. Rest in peace Mrs. Sanchez.
