David E. Martinez

Mr. David E. Martinez, age 73, died surrounded by his loving and caring family in San Antonio, Texas on April 20, 2011. Born November 10, 1937, in Laredo, Texas, David lived and raised his family in Laredo until 2009 when he and his wife, Sylvia moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to their children. He retired after 19 years with Central Power & Light. David worked hard to raise and educate his children, and loved spending time with his wife and family. His passions were hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Survivors include his loving wife, Sylvia, his five children, David, Jr., Joseph, Sylvia, Jorge and Roque Martinez, his sister Sylvia Olvera and brothers Carlos, Eduardo and Alberto Martinez of Laredo, Texas, and five grandchildren, Roque, Rebeca, Christian David, Jennifer Marie and Alyssa Martinez. The family will be receiving friends and family at Fred Dickey Funeral and Cremation Services, today, Sunday, April 24, 2011, from 5pm-9pm, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. Funeral Services will be tomorrow, Monday, April 25, 2011, from the funeral home, via cortege, to San Agustín Cathedral for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am celebrated by Rev. Francisco Hernandez. Pallbearers will be: David Martinez Jr., Joseph Martinez, Jorge Martinez, Roque Martinez, Rocky Martinez, Carlos Martinez, Ruben Olvera and Dr. Greg Gonzaba. Interment will follow immediately at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
