Obituary

Daniel Ibarra entered into Heaven’s Kingdom on October 16, 2022 at the age of 93 years old in Laredo Texas.  He passed away surrounded by his loving family. He served proudly in the Army and Air Force during the Korean War having served as Military Police. After being Honorably discharged he worked at Sears and Roebuck for many years as a delivery truck driver in Laredo and San Antonio Texas. He was a barber by occupation since a very young age having attended barber school in San Antonio Texas. He opened his own barber shop on Hidalgo St. in Laredo Texas known as Danny’s Barber Shop after retiring from Sears and Roebuck. In his later years, he would make home visits to his friend’s homes to cut their hair when they were unable to go out because of their health. He made many long-life friends throughout his life. He was a kind and humble man up to the day of his passing. He enjoyed visiting all his children and especially liked the family get togethers.

Mr. Ibarra is preceded in death by his mother, Marina Trevino Ibarra, father Juan Ibarra; son, Juan Antonio “Tony” Ibarra; siblings, Aurora, Roman, Eduardo, Maria Enriqueta and Juan Antonio.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gloria M. Ibarra; son, Daniel D. Ibarra Jr. and daughters, Alma Ibarra Salinas (Fidel C. Salinas Jr+) and Adriana Ibarra.  Grandchildren, Fidel C. Salinas III (Patricia), Daniel Erik Ibarra, Kimberly T. Ibarra, Laura Lizette Martinez and Kevin Arizpe.  Great-grandchildren Kimberly Renee’ Escamilla, Gabriela Duran, Daniel Erik Ibarra Jr., Derek Jalomo, Danya Ibarra.  Great-great grandchildren Aaliyah Camila Escamilla, Hailey Marie, Alexander and Nathan Garcia. Also surviving him is his sister Rosa Ibarra Vela and many nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Alma I. Salinas, Adriana Ibarra, Laura L. Martinez and Kevin Arizpe.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 7:00 am to 9:30 am at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral procession will follow from the funeral home to San Agustin Cathedral, where mass will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow immediately at the Laredo City Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard and flag presentation will be provided by the United States Air Force honor guard. Pallbearers will be: Daniel Ibarra, Jr., Daniel Erik Ibarra, Fidel C. Salinas, III., Kevin M. Arizpe, Pedro Escamilla and Daniel A. Salinas.
