In Loving Memory of Daniel James Romo

Dear Friends and Family,

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Daniel J. Romo, who departed this life on July 26, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on September 26, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, to Jesus and Herminia Romo, Dan lived a life full of love, dedication, and hard work.

Dan shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Linda Romo, for 64 years. Together, they built a loving home and a successful business, Dan Romo State Farm Insurance. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his children Kevin (Sandy) Romo and Amy (Marla) Romo-Loomis, his brother Don (Carmen) Romo and his grandchildren Kaitlyn Romo, Hailey Romo, Lucas Romo-Loomis, Adrian Romo-Loomis, Phillip Romo, Joseph Romo, Andrew Rothenbach and Jacob Rothenbach.

He is preceded in death by his son David Romo, his sister Diana Lomeli, and his beloved aunt Mary De La Torre.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dan grew up in Southern California and began working at a young age, picking fruit on the land that is now Disneyland. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at 18 and served in the Korean War. After his military service, he attended California State University Long Beach and began his career in the burgeoning electronic industry with these leaders that are still here today, Cannon Electric, Texas Instruments and AT&T Labs. He manufactured and tested the first motherboards and red diodes for the first personal calculators. Dan later joined Transitron Electronic Corp where he led a team manufacturing power grid transformers (Maquiladora) in Tijuana, Mexico, which eventually brought him to Laredo, Texas in the early 1970s. After the plant closed, he began a career with State Farm in 1976 and retired after 27 years with the company at age 73.

Dan enjoyed working around the house and in the yard, barbecuing for his family, playing golf, and was an active member of Kiwanis. He was a true handyman and took great pride in his work and hobbies.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 am.

Linda,Kevin,Amy Danny is more than my first cousin. He was my big brother. He was a big part of my childhood. So many memories to mention. Always there for us. I loved his quick wit and sense of humor. I can hear him call me JOANNIE! He will be in my heart forever. Love you all

To Aunt Linda, Kevin, Amy, Sandy and Marla and the entire Romo family I share my deepest sorrow with you at this time as we celebrate the life of my beloved Uncle Danny. My Mom Diana loved Danny dearly and would bristle with joy when she got a chance to speak to her Big Brother and Aunt Linda. To me and my sisters, Uncle Danny was always known as this legendary figure way down in Texas on the streets of Laredo. I had the privilege of visiting him a few times and I can say he lived up to the legend. I enjoyed talking football ,politics or any subject under the sun with him as he was a man of knowledge and tremendous wit and humor. He will be truly missed by all the 'California' Romos, but I know he's sharing a glass of wine with My Mom and sharing his love with us all.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

So sad. Remember the happy times. Talk about the good things. He will always be remembered

What a beautiful write-up. Uncle Danny had a lot of wisdom and a bit of wit to go with it. But I will never forget what he told me years ago at a family wedding. Dear Linda and family, I was so sorry to hear about Dan’s death. I know that he will be deeply missed by all of you. Please accept my condolences and I am praying for all of your family.

To my Father in Law , who was the best 2nd father anyone could ask for. He was always kind, generous, and always helped me around our home when I needed. He was truly loved and I will miss him forever.. Love You dad, Love Sandy

I only have happy memories with Dan and Linda. Robert and I shared many good times with them at the Kiwanis functions. He was such a professional at his business State Farm Insurance. Dear Linda and family; Judy and I just heard the news that Dan has passed. I hope that you can find some comfort in your many special memories and in the thought of the happy years you shared.

The world needs more Mr. Danny Romo's in it. Dan's big heart, dry and very witty sense of humor, love for family and his warm smile were the best.

My thoughts and prayers for Dan Romo's family. He was my State Farm agent in Laredo for many years and was there for me when I needed him as my agent. My son Miguel Lecuona and Dan's son Kevin Romo were high school friends. A wonderful family. RIP Dan Romo!
