Obituary

Consuelo “Chelo” Villanueva Cadena went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 7, 2018 in Laredo, Texas at the age of 75. Mrs. Cadena was born in Laredo and had been a lifelong resident. She graduated from Martin High School in 1962.

She worked for the Food Land Stores for twelve years, continued her work with the Texas Health and Human Services in the Food Stamp Issuance Office. She then worked for the Laredo Independent School District (Santo Nino) for fifteen years up until her retirement.

Chelo was a woman with a great heart, having cared for her mother and sister. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Her life was blessed with 55 years of marriage to the love of her life Pablo Cadena and God’s gift of two daughters and five grandchildren.

​ Consuelo was a courageous and strong women who battled with dementia for the last seven years She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Hilaria Villanueva, brother, Felix Villanueva and sister Esperanza Villanueva, in laws Jose and Sara Cadena.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, Pablo Cadena, her children, Marcela (Robert) Benavides and Melissa (Manuel) Cisneros. Five grandchildren: Ashley and Austin Benavides, Jacqueline, Kassandra, and Victor Cisneros.

Siblings: Enrique (Olivia) Villanueva, Teresa Medina, Antonio (Patricia) Villanueva, Jr. and sister-in-law Belia Villanueva.

She is also survived by numerous other relatives.

The Cadena family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation Regent Care Center (Cafe) and Dr. Luis Benavides for the care of our loved one.

​Family will be receiving guests on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 5 pm-9 pm at the Fred Dickey Funeral Home chapel, a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church at 9:00 am. Interment will following to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Manuel Cisneros Jr., Roberto Benavides, Victor Cisneros, Austin Benavides, Javier Cadena and Ezequiel Medina.

My most sincere sympathies to Cadena Family. Mrs. Cadena will be remembered as a loving mom to her daughters who was always so kind and gracious to their friends everytime they visited her home. I'm sure nice and happy memories will be remembered by all who knew her.
