Carmen Vidaurri, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Grandma Carmen as she was affectionately called was an extraordinary woman who always placed other’s needs before her own. Carmen was Den Mother for countless neighborhood boys in the late 50’s and early 60’s. She was a lifelong honorary member of the Texas PTA, always volunteering throughout her children’s school years at Buenos Aires Elementary. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her family. She also loved being an Avon Representative for over 40 years, having achieved President’s Council status.Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Vidaurri, her son, Raul Vidaurri and her brother, Frank Salas. She is survived by her sons, Ruben (Esther) Vidaurri, Jr., Ricardo (Janie) Vidaurri, Roberto (Juanita) Vidaurri, Reymundo (Rosa) Vidaurri and Ronaldo (Bertha) Vidaurri; her daughters, Anita (Sam) Perez, Amalia (Richard) Ortiz and Adriana (Eloy) Marin; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; sister, Amalia (Gilbert) Contreras; nieces, nephews and other relatives.A vigil for the deceased will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8:30 am. Interment will follow immediately to the City Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Luis Benavides and the Hospice program Nurses on Wheels.
