Candido Lopez Jr., 62, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 27, 2020
Mr. Lopez was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. During his tour of duty he received the Rifle Marksman badge and the Meritorious Mast certificate. He was employed by the San Antonio Brake & Clutch and worked for the Texas Fleet Supply in the Laredo branch for 20 years.
Candido was a family man, who enjoyed cooking out on game days while watching his favorite teams the Green Bay Packers and los Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos and socializing with his family. He enjoyed spending nights dancing and going to the Maquinitas. Candido will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Candido Sr. and Petra Lopez; nephew, Emanuel Rico.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Sylvia E. Lopez; children, Isabel Y. Lopez, Elizabeth (Juan) Calderon, Candido (Cynthia) Lopez III, Alejandro Lopez, Armando Lopez, Alejandra (Jose+) Capetillo, and stepdaughter Olga S. Barajas; 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Maria Teresa (Enrique) Rico, Patricio Lopez, Rosa Maria (Nicolas) Garcia, Maria del Rosario Lopez from Bangor, Michigan, Ismael Lopez, Alberto (Zulema) Lopez from San Antonio, Texas, Irene (David) Lopez, Adrian Lopez, and Gabriel (Claudia) Lopez; and Special Thanks to our cousin, Maria Flores from California.
The family will be receiving guests Monday, March 2, 2020, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will start at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Santo Niño Catholic Church. The funeral mass will start at 10:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps and The Laredo Veteran’s Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Alejandro Lopez, Candido Lopez III, Juan Calderon, Troy Lomas, Ismael Lopez, Alberto Lopez, Adrian Lopez and Gabriel Lopez.
