Candelario “Cande” Rodriguez Jr. 70 passed away at his home in Laredo, Texas on February 15, 2013. Cande graduated from Martin High School Class of 1961 “Once a Tiger always a Tiger”. The only time he left Laredo was to serve in the Navy. Cande was a native Lareadoan who loved his community. He was involved in many clubs and organizations throughout his life that included 20/30 Club, and The Lions Club, Lulac 7, Lulac 12, Lulac 777, The Elks Lodge, The Crime Stoppers and The American Legion. As a retiree he continued his commitment to the community with his recent involvement with the City of Laredo Blue Ribbon Committee for People with Disabilities and The Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents Candelario Rodriguez Sr. and Ernestina Ruiz Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Maria Rodriguez and his children: Oscar Luis (Diana) Rodriguez, Candelario “Cande” (Sherry) Rodriguez III, Jeannette England, Roberto David (Jennifer) Rodriguez, and Maria “Tina” (Roberto) Martinez; grandchildren: Cande IV, Ashley, John, Louie, Larry, Sean, Cristina, Amber, Carina, Armando, Ashly; Brothers: Daniel G. Rodriguez and Roberto Rodriguez. The family will be receiving guests Monday, February 18, 2013 at Fred Dickey Funeral and Cremation Services from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at San Martin de Porres Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the City Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 59 and flag fold presentation by the United States Navy.
