Briseida (Bibi) Garza Castillo
January 12, 1941 – March 22, 2023
On Wednesday, March 22, 2023 my beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called to join our Heavenly Father to be by his side, in the company of her parents, brothers, sister, and in laws.
Born to Antonio Sr and Tomasa Romanos Garza, in Laredo, Texas she was educated and lived all her life In Laredo, Texas. She enjoyed a happy and very useful life going to Border Bingo and the game rooms. Her dream was to go to Las Vegas, Nevada which she accomplished numerous times, also to Kickapoo in Eagle Pass, TX. She was a happy and joyful person, always carrying a conversation with people she met, she made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed playing Loteria with all her family members. She traveled to California, Kansas, New York, Kentucky, Washington DC, Virginia and Nevada. Her pride and joy was her family and she enjoyed cooking delicious meals for them to the point where they were so full they would say no more, she was also close with her families friends. She leaves a legacy behind that will never be surpassed; she enjoyed her housework and yard work, keeping everything spotless. Always the instigator of fun and games at all family gatherings as everybody would wait for her to arrive and begin the action and fun. There was no place that she went that she did not make friends and carry a conversation she was always smiling, happy, joyful and eager to help anybody. She would attend sporting event competitions where her sons, grandkids, and great-grandkids participated. She enjoyed eating at Golden Corral and other restaurants, especially when family members were with her. Her work career started with Laredo Independent School District as a lunch ticket clerk with the food service dept. First at Lamar Middle School for one year, Cigarroa High when it first opened up, she was eventually transferred after 20 some years to Bruni Elementary, Leyendecker Elementary, Tomas Sanchez Elementary, Christen Middle and McDonell Elementary from where she retired in 2007, she was a great friend to a lot of students that ate lunch at school especially from Cigarroa High and Christen Middle she made sure all were fed to the point that if they had no money to pay she would find a way to feed them lunch, some even eating up to two times. In her last days, everywhere she went former students would recognize her and approach her to say hello and present their family to her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Antonio Sr. and Tomasa Romanos Garza; brothers, Roberto and Antonio; sister Natividad Hermelinda Garza Vasquez; brothers-in–law, Philip Parker Williams, Ismael Fred Vasquez; niece, Elizabeth Williams King; father & mother-in-law, Jose Sr. and Paula Medina Castillo.
