Obituary

Betty Jo Gutierrez

9/29/1929 – 2/21/2020

The light of our lives has been forever dimmed. Our beloved mother Betty Jo Gutierrez passed away in the early morning hours of February 21, 2020. Tonight the heavens shine a little brighter as she joins her heavenly father for all eternity.

It is said that a smile can light up a room, moms smile lit up the world. A pure heart and a gentle soul is who she was. Graceful in every sense of the word, a true lady and a devout catholic whose life was centered around God and family. She loved with the purest heart and gave so freely of her love to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mom loved her family dearly and equally but she was especially close to her late grandson Brandon whom she adored. Everywhere mama went Brandon was at her side, two peas in a pod. Inseparable is what they were and they are now reunited in heaven.

Mrs. Gutierrez is preceded in death by her grandson Brandon Andrew Sutton, her daughter Sandra Gayle Valdez and her sister Margaret B. Vela.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Denise (Tim) Jolley, Robert Paul ”Beto” Gutierrez, Richard Dean ”Dickie” Gutierrez, Patricia Marie Ramirez; grandchildren, Timothy Harrison Jolley, Brandy (Jeff) Czar, Dara (Sam) Parker, Richard(Tessie) Gutierrez, Robert Anthony Gutierrez, Ruben (Aryana) Valdez, Cristina Valdez, Cristina Ramirez and Steven Ramirez.  She is also survived by her sister Josie (Rod) Henney.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Luis Benavides for his many years of care and compassion towards our mother, to Regent Care staff and to Maria Ines Hernandez Vasquez for 9 years of dedicated and loving care of our mother.

Our family will be having a private ceremony in loving memory of our mother in the Texas Hill Country at her sons Robert Gutierrez’s ranch.

Funeral arrangements are by Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, 1320 Trey Dr., Laredo, Texas 78041 (956) 723-3611. For your convenience, you may sign the guest book or leave your condolences to the family online at www.freddickey.com

Denise I was your P E teacher at United High School and help me with Dr Hudson. My most deepest condolences and prayers for the loss of your dear mother. May the perpetual light shine upon her. Psalm 23: 2-4 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Toni (Cisneros) Benavides Cypress, Tx

So Sorry for your loss to the Gutierrez family. My memories of your mother were of her in her starched white shirt and parking enforcement uniform. Always dressed to perfection! Always with a smile on her face and ready to serve! I knew her through Dickies friendship with my brother George who I would tag along with sometimes usually picking Dickie up on the way to the ranch! May she rest in peace! Parker Neel
