Prayer Service 6:00 pm
Arturo Flores, III, 49, was called home by our Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Arturo was kind, giving, selfless and had a great love for all his family and friends. Arturo was a believer and placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Arturo was the son of Gloria and Arturo Flores Jr. Arturo was a lifelong athlete throughout his school years. He was a friend to all, and had a passion to help others. At the young age of 17, Arturo married the love of his life, Pat. They began their life together and had 6 beautiful children. Encouraged and supported by his family, Coach Turi began his career as a coach at the age of 19. He served the Boys and Girls Club, American League, Spurs League and the Bayfl Laredo League. Arturo placed great importance on his education and received a Bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and a Master’s degree in Special Education and served as an employee of United Independent School District for 18 years. Throughout his career, Arturo served as a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher, ARD Facilitator, Vocational Coordinator, and Curriculum writer for UISD’s Special Education Department. Arturo’s calling as an educator to serve and love students of all abilities had a wonderful impact on our community, but most importantly, he loved his role as a coach. Arturo served as an Assistant Coach at Clark Middle School, United Middle School, and Alexander High School as a Football, Basketball, and Track Coach. His influence and dedication profoundly touched the life of his players. Arturo and Pat became integral members of Grace Bible Church, where they both served their community and built lifelong friendships. Arturo was described as a disciple maker and a believer with a serving heart. He rejoiced in the fellowship of his brothers and sisters in Christ, and was always inviting others to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Arturo was a devoted father who deeply loved his six children and enjoyed spending time with his family. Arturo and Pat built a big loving family with sons and daughters, Turi, Becca, Lela, Abby, Mel, and Oscar and welcomed the arrival of their four grandchildren. Arturo taught his children to always love and care for each other, and most importantly to have a relationship with God. Arturo was immensely proud of the life he built with his wife Pat, as they were just kids when they got together. Through the grace of God and hard work and dedication, they were blessed to share that life with their children. Arturo was known for helping anyone in need at any time. He was an amazing friend, colleague, and confidant. He ensured everyone was taken care of at all times, and was considered a grill master. He never missed an opportunity to cook out for his extended family, friends, and always volunteered to cook for plate sale fundraisers. Honoring his generous wish, the gift of life was shared with others through organ and tissue donation. Turi provided life-saving opportunities for the loved ones of several families.
He is preceded in death by his mother Gloria N. Flores. He is survived by his father Arturo Flores Jr, his wife Patricia Flores, his children: son, Arturo Flores IV, daughters, Rebecca Bermea (Conrado Bermea), Valeria Flores, Abigail Flores, Melissa Flores, and son, Oscar Manuel Flores; grandchildren Ariana Flores, Arturo Lorenzo Flores, Sofia Bermea, and Drago Flores; as well as many other family members and numerous church and work friends, and players who will miss him dearly.
