Obituary

Arnoldo Silva III

“I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” Timothy 4:7

Arnoldo “Nolo” Silva III, age 48, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2019, with his loved ones at his side.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arnoldo Silva Jr., and his grandparents, Arnoldo Silva Sr. and Albino and Juanita Garza.

Nolo was born in Laredo to Arnoldo Silva Jr. and Mirta Garza Silva. Nolo lived most all of his life in Laredo until a few years ago when he moved to Zapata, TX. He joined the Laredo Fire Department in 1992 where he later became a paramedic and driver. He retired from the fire department in 2012 when he subsequently became part owner of the Laredo Arena Gun Club where he also became a master gunsmith.

Nolo was an avid South Texas outdoorsman and had enjoyed many hunting and fishing experiences with his father, friends, and family members. He loved to reminisce of the many hunting adventures he had with his father and grandfather. Nolo was very gifted and with his mechanical knowledge. He could operate any machine, drive any vehicle, build and fix anything. He had a remarkable ability to analyze and understand the workings of anything.

Nolo held the highest of family values and deeply loved his family especially his children. Nolo was a true friend—always ready and willing at a moment’s notice to help anyone. After almost 10 years after his retirement, he still kept close contact with his Laredo Fire Department brothers. He had a very special magnetic personality- anyone who met him would become his friend for life.

Nolo is survived by his lifetime companion who he deeply loved, Monica Garcia; by his mother, Mirta G. Silva, by sister, Mirta and Gabriel Gaytan (Gaby Jr. Christian, Sean, and Sebastian Gaytan); by his children; Vanessa, Arnoldo Silva IV and their mother, Vanessa Ortegon; by Dawn and Miah Silva and Mario ‘Chucky’ Martinez and their mother Michelle Vaughn; and by his paternal grandmother Alicia Silva;

He is also survived by his uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces; and many other family member, friends and his first responders from the Laredo Fire Department.

We will sincerely miss Nolo but will continue our love for him knowing that we will be with him again.

Nolo, I am sad that I will not be able to be with your family in person today to join in everyone's sorrow of your untimely passing. But I will be there in heart if not in person. I remember all the many many days you and Dean spent at the house on Oak St. working on cars, etc. Just so many pleasant memories that we all have of you that will never go away. As you look down on us know that we will never forget you. We send Love and Prayers for all your family at this time and forever. Dean's Mom

It is said death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves memories no one can steal. My precious Dawn and Miah, it is my prayer those precious memories of your father bring you comfort when you most need it. Michelle, Chuck, Dawn and Miah, you are not alone. You never have been. I love you very much.
